Appropriate Medical Therapy Primarily Modifies Type 2 and Severity Biomarkers in Chronic Rhinosinusitis

open access: yesInternational Forum of Allergy &Rhinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Appropriate medical therapy (AMT) is first‐line treatment for patients with chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS). We evaluated inflammatory structure, treatment‐induced changes, and biomarker‐outcome associations in AMT‐managed patients. Methods Fifty‐one CRS patients were evaluated before and after AMT which included a combination of oral ...

AAV vector distribution in the mouse respiratory tract following four different methods of administration

open access: yesBMC Biotechnology, 2017
Background Targeted delivery of gene therapy vectors to the mouse respiratory tract is often performed via intranasal or intratracheal administration; however, there can be a great deal of variability between these methods, which could potentially ...

The complexity of dementia development and its comorbidities: The collaborative cross‐mouse population for multivarious tasks approach

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
The increasing prevalence of dementia and related neurodegenerative diseases—including Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis—poses a growing public health challenge. These conditions have traditionally been studied as isolated central nervous system disorders, but emerging evidence points to ...

Development of biodegradable starch microspheres for intranasal delivery

open access: yesIndian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 2008
Domperidone microspheres for intranasal administration were prepared by emulsification crosslinking technique. Starch a biodegradable polymer was used in preparation of microspheres using epichlorhydrine as cross-linking agent. The formulation variables were drug concentration and polymer concentration and batch of drug free microsphere was prepared ...

Intranasal Seletracetam in a Patient with Reading Epilepsy: First‐in‐Human Use to Prevent Reflex Seizures

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
We report the first human use of intranasal seletracetam (SEL) to prevent reflex seizures. A patient with epilepsy with reading‐induced seizures on levetiracetam (3,000 mg/day) continued to experience reading‐induced focal seizures with preserved consciousness.

Decoding the Pathophysiology of Autoimmune Diseases—Mechanism, Triggers, and Nanotherapeutics: A Review

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
This review highlights how autoimmune diseases arise from intertwined immunological, genetic, and environmental factors, emphasizing gut microbiota dysbiosis as a pivotal driver. It outlines emerging nanotechnology‐based strategies—such as liposomes, hydrogels, and polymeric nanoparticles—that enhance targeted drug delivery, minimize systemic toxicity,

Intranasal BCG vaccination induces systemic and pulmonary mucosal immune responses against tuberculosis in a goat model

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
Early immune containment of mycobacteria at the infection site is key to tuberculosis (TB) vaccine development. Intranasal delivery strategies offer a promising alternative to parenteral BCG vaccination, particularly for pulmonary TB, the predominant ...
