Structure and function of IP3 receptors
Seminars in Cell Biology, 1994The molecular, structural and functional characteristics of the intracellular Ca2+ release channel activated by inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate (IP3), also named IP3 receptor (IP3R), are described here. We also discuss the differences in primary structure, expression and modulation of the receptor subtypes and their physiological roles. The similarity and

Structural and dynamic insights into the subtype-specific IP3-binding mechanism of the IP3 receptor
Biochemical Journal, 2016There are three subtypes of vertebrate inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate (IP3) receptor (IP3R), a Ca2+-release channel on the ER membrane — IP3R1, IP3R2, and IP3R3 — each of which has a distinctive role in disease development. To determine the subtype-specific IP3-binding mechanism, we compared the thermodynamics, thermal stability, and conformational ...

The IP3 receptor and Ca2+ signaling in trypanosomes
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Molecular Cell Research, 2021Trypanosoma cruzi, and the T. brucei group of parasites cause neglected diseases that affect millions of people around the world. These unicellular microorganisms have complex life cycles involving an insect vector and a mammalian host. Both groups of pathogens possess an inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate (IP3)/diacylglycerol (DAG) signaling pathway, and an

IP3 levels and their modulation FY fusicoccin measured by a novel [3H] IP3 binding assay
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1990A recently developed sensitive assay based on the binding reaction of IP3 to bovine adrenal preparations has been utilized for determining the level of endogenous inositol-1,4,5 trisphosphate (IP3) in maize roots and coleoptiles. The amount of IP3 found in these tissues ranges from 0.1 to 1.0 nmol g-1 fresh weight.

Analysis of IP3 receptors in and out of cells
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - General Subjects, 2012Inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate receptors (IP3R) are expressed in almost all animal cells. Three mammalian genes encode closely related IP3R subunits, which assemble into homo- or hetero-tetramers to form intracellular Ca2+ channels. In this brief review, we first consider a variety of complementary methods that allow the links between IP3 binding and ...
