Long-range beam-beam experiments in the relativistic heavy ion collider

open access: yes, 2014
Long-range beam-beam effects are a potential limit to the LHC performance with the nominal design parameters, and certain upgrade scenarios under discussion.

Reciprocal regulation of A-to-I RNA editing and the vertebrate nervous system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The fine control of molecules mediating communication in the nervous system is key to adjusting neuronal signaling during development and in maintaining the stability of established networks in the face of altered sensory input.

Study of superoxide dismutase's expression in the colon produced by azoxymethane and inositol hexaphosfate's paper, in mice Estudo da expressão de superóxido dismutase no cólon produzida por azoximetano e o papel do inositol hexafosfato, em ratos

open access: yesActa Cirúrgica Brasileira, 2006
PURPOSE: To investigate the expression of superoxide dismutase (SOD), with use of antioxidant inositol hexaphosfate, in the presence of the carcinogen azoxymethane, in FCA of colon rats.

Phytic Acid Demonstrates Rapid Antibiofilm Activity and Inhibits Biofilm Formation When Used as a Surface Conditioning Agent

open access: yesMicrobiology Spectrum, 2023
Root canal infections are associated with biofilms and are treated with chemical irrigants with a high success rate. However, treatment failure does arise, which is attributed primarily to resistance exhibited by biofilms.

QTL Mapping of Several Seed Quality Traits in the DH Population NPZ06 × NPZ09 (Brassica napus L.) for Marker‐Assisted Selection

open access: yesPlant Breeding, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Enhancing nutritional quality of oilseed rape requires deeper insight into the genetic control of seed quality traits. This study analysed the effect of varying soil phosphorus (P) levels on seed quality traits in the hybrid cultivar Architect. NIRS and laboratory methods were used to quantify total seed P and phytic acid (IP6) content.

Inositol Hexaphosphate Inhibits Growth and Induces G1 Arrest and Apoptotic Death of Androgen-Dependent Human Prostate Carcinoma LNCaP Cells

open access: yesNeoplasia: An International Journal for Oncology Research, 2004
Prostate cancer (PCA) is the most common invasive malignancy and the second leading cause of cancerrelated deaths in the US male population. One approach to control this malignancy is its preventive intervention by dietary agents. Inositol hexaphosphate (

Phytic acid degradation by phytase – as viewed by 31P NMR and multivariate curve resolution [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The 31P NMR method is a most direct and useful method to describe the degradation of phytic acid to lower inositol phosphates by the action of the enzyme phytase.

Engineered surface strategies to manage dental implant‐related infections

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView.
Abstract When exposed to the oral environment, dental implants, like natural surfaces, become substrates for microbial adhesion and accumulation, often leading to implant‐related infections—one of the main causes of implant failure. These failures impose significant costs on patients, clinicians, and healthcare systems.

Phytic acid decreases deoxynivalenol and fumonisin B1-induced changes on swine jejunal explants

open access: yesToxicology Reports, 2014
The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effects of phytic acid (IP6) on morphological and immunohistochemical parameters on intestinal explants exposed to deoxynivalenol (DON) and fumonisin B1 (FB1).

Inositol phosphates promote HIV-1 assembly and maturation to facilitate viral spread in human CD4+ T cells.

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2021
Gag polymerization with viral RNA at the plasma membrane initiates HIV-1 assembly. Assembly processes are inefficient in vitro but are stimulated by inositol (1,3,4,5,6) pentakisphosphate (IP5) and inositol hexakisphosphate (IP6) metabolites.
