Rewiring Carbon Metabolism in Bacillus methanolicus via Heterologous Phosphoketolase Expression Enhances Biomass Yield From Methanol and Reduces CO2 Loss

open access: yesMicrobial Biotechnology, Volume 19, Issue 9, September 2026.
Introducing a phosphoketolase pathway into Bacillus methanolicus enhances methanol‐to‐biomass yields by 18%–24% and reduces CO2 evolution by up to 12%. Coupled with a tunable expression system, this work demonstrates improved carbon conservation and expands metabolic engineering strategies for methylotrophs.

Twisting the End Game: How Telomere Chromatin Modifications Shape Telomere Maintenance

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 9, September 2026.
Chromatin modifications on telomeres are linked to the mode of telomere DNA replication. A coupled feedforward loop model is proposed based on these to lock the ALT cancer cells in this alternative mode of telomere replication. ABSTRACT Cell division inevitably shortens telomeric DNA owing to the end‐replication problem.

Clinical and molecular features of primary gliosarcoma with digital spatial whole‐transcriptome analysis of glial and mesenchymal components

open access: yesBrain Pathology, Volume 36, Issue 5, September 2026.
We report the clinical and genetic features of an institutional cohort of primary adult gliosarcomas compared to glioblastoma. We performed spatial whole‐transcriptome analysis on glial and sarcomatous regions of four cases to compare gene expression profiles and validated differential protein expression for two markers in tissue sections.

Elucidating the Pro‐Tumor Role of LncRNA CROCCP2 in Glioma via the miR‐5584‐5p/HOXD11/Autophagy Pathway

open access: yesCancer Science, Volume 117, Issue 9, Page 2443-2460, September 2026.
The lncRNA CROCCP2 upregulates HOXD11 by competitively adsorbing miR‐5584‐5p, thereby promoting glioma cell proliferation, migration, and invasion by inhibiting autophagy. It significantly enhances tumor growth in vivo, suggesting it may be a potential therapeutic target for gliomas.

The WHO Classification of Genetic Tumour Syndromes: Considerations for Genetics

open access: yesClinical Genetics, Volume 110, Issue 3, Page 389-401, September 2026.
The WHO Classification of Tumours underpins the diagnosis of neoplastic conditions. The new WHO classification of genetic tumour syndromes (GTS) provides international standards for their diagnosis. This diagram highlights the chromosomal distribution of the genes involved in the GTS covered in this classification.

Understanding and addressing resistance to IMiDs immunomodulatory compounds in multiple myeloma

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, Volume 293, Issue 17, Page 5121-5139, September 2026.
IMiDs are pivotal in the treatment of multiple myeloma. Mechanisms of resistance comprise cell intrinsic and extrinsic pathways, involving tumour microenvironment, immune cell dysfunction, CRBN‐dependent and independent genetic drivers and epigenetic changes.
