PROTEIN BIOTECHNOLOGY: THE SIGNIFICANCE AND USE OF INDUSTRIAL POLYMER-DEGRADING ENZYMES [PDF]

open access: yesمجلة جامعة كركوك للعلوم الزراعية
Microorganisms are the primary source of industrial enzymes, with Bacillus and Aspergillus species being the leading producers. Bacillus strains have historically been used to synthesize commercially significant enzymes due to their status as GRAS ...

Analyzing Current Trends and Possible Strategies to Improve Sucrose Isomerases’ Thermostability

open access: yes, 2023
Due to their ability to produce isomaltulose, sucrose isomerases are enzymes that have caught the attention of researchers and entrepreneurs since the 1950s. However, their low activity and stability at temperatures above 40 °C have been a bottleneck

Heat Shock Protein 90: From Molecular Chaperone Function to Therapeutic Targeting in Malignancies

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this review, an integrated conceptual framework linking HSP90's molecular chaperone functions to its pathological roles in cancer is proposed. HSP90 serves as a central node that integrates oncogenic signaling, buffers proteotoxic stress, maintains cancer stem cell plasticity, and shapes tumor‐immune interactions, all of which converge to drive ...

Inhibition of Phosphoglucose Isomerase [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1956
THE key carbohydrate intermediate, glucose 6-phosphate, which may follow several alternative metabolic pathways including the 6-phosphogluconate oxidative cycle and the glycolytic sequence, enters the latter route by the phosphoglucose isomerase reaction.

Mycobacterium tuberculosis Peptidyl-Prolyl Isomerases Also Exhibit Chaperone like Activity In-Vitro and In-Vivo. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
Peptidyl-prolyl cis-trans isomerases (Ppiases), also known as cyclophilins, are ubiquitously expressed enzymes that assist in protein folding by isomerization of peptide bonds preceding prolyl residues.

Thiol isomerases negatively regulate the cellular shedding activity of ADAM17

open access: yes, 2010
ADAM17 (where ADAM is 'a disintegrin and metalloproteinase') can rapidly modulate cell-surface signalling events by the proteolytic release of soluble forms of proligands for cellular receptors.

PDIA6–SCD1 Axis Rewires Lipid Metabolism to Drive Gastric Cancer Progression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Protein disulfide isomerase A6 (PDIA6) is identified as an oncogenic driver in gastric cancer. PDIA6 directly binds and stabilizes SCD1 by limiting its ubiquitin–proteasome‐mediated degradation, thereby sustaining monounsaturated fatty acid (MUFA)‐enriched lipid homeostasis and lipid metabolic reprogramming.

A Guide to PIN1 Function and Mutations Across Cancers

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2019
PIN1 is a member of a family of peptidylprolyl isomerases that bind phosphoproteins and catalyze the rapid cis–trans isomerization of proline peptidyl bonds, resulting in an alteration of protein structure, function, and stability.

Inhibition of KDEL Receptors Remodels the Tumor Microenvironment for T Cell Independent Tumor Regression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Inhibition of KDELR2 in a small fraction of tumor cells generates sustainable immunogenic cell death conditions within the tumor microenvironment. These conditions promote the regression of tumors in a T cell independent manner. During regression, macrophages prime T cells that subsequently provide systemic protection against recurrence. The potency of

HPW-RX40 prevents human platelet activation by attenuating cell surface protein disulfide isomerases

open access: yesRedox Biology, 2017
Protein disulfide isomerase (PDI) present at platelet surfaces has been considered to play an important role in the conformational change and activation of the integrin glycoprotein IIb/IIIa (GPIIb/IIIa) and thus enhances platelet aggregation.
