Designing for Degradation: Transient Devices Enabled by (Nano)Cellulose

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Recent progress in transient devices enabled by (nano)cellulosic materials is reviewed. Transiency mechanisms, advantages of nanocelluloses, and a suite of applications are discussed. A circular thinking approach coupled with life cycle assessment is applied to critically revisit the potential, advantages, and challenges of nanocellulose‐enabled ...

Interspecific differences in the larval performance of Pieris butterflies (Lepidoptera: Pieridae) are associated with differences in the glucosinolate profiles of host plants

open access: yes, 2019
The tremendous diversity of plants and herbivores has arisen from a coevolutionary relationship characterized by plant defense and herbivore counter adaptation. Pierid butterfly species feed on Brassicales plants that produce glucosinolates as a chemical

The effect of processing on the glucosinolate profile of mustard seed [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Brassica juncea mustard seed are used to make mustard paste or condiment. Mustard seed contains glucosinolates which are converted to isothiocyanates following cell disruption by the enzyme, myrosinase.

A Highly Adaptable Hydrogen Bond Re‐Orientation (HyBRO) Strategy for Multiscale Vasculature Fabrication

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A novel hydrogen bond re‐orientation (HyBRO) strategy enables three‐dimensional (3D) printing of vascular microchannel networks with high accuracy. By switching sacrificial material interactions with nonsolvents, HyBRO prevents swelling and deformation, enabling accurate hierarchical channels spanning a tenfold size range.
