Abstract Ritonavir (RTV) is a potent CYP3A inhibitor that is widely used as a pharmacokinetic (PK) enhancer to increase exposure to select protease inhibitors. However, as a strong and complex perpetrator of CYP3A interactions, RTV can also enhance the exposure of other co‐administered CYP3A substrates, potentially causing toxicity.

Heterologous expression and biochemical characterisation of fourteen esterases from Helicoverpa armigera. [PDF]
Esterases have recurrently been implicated in insecticide resistance in Helicoverpa armigera but little is known about the underlying molecular mechanisms. We used a baculovirus system to express 14 of 30 full-length esterase genes so far identified from

The return of metabolism: biochemistry and physiology of glycolysis
ABSTRACT Glycolysis is a fundamental metabolic pathway central to the bioenergetics and physiology of virtually all living organisms. In this comprehensive review, we explore the intricate biochemical principles and evolutionary origins of glycolytic pathways, from the classical Embden–Meyerhof–Parnas (EMP) pathway in humans to various prokaryotic and ...

Protein kinase C in the wood frog, Rana sylvatica: reassessing the tissue-specific regulation of PKC isozymes during freezing [PDF]
The wood frog, Rana sylvatica, survives whole-body freezing and thawing each winter. The extensive adaptations required at the biochemical level are facilitated by alterations to signaling pathways, including the insulin/Akt and AMPK pathways.

Transglutaminase‐mediated cytokeratin modifications implicated in bile‐acid‐induced hepatocyte death
Cholestasis and bile‐acid exposure enhance expression and activity of protein crosslinking enzymes TG1 and TG2 in hepatocytes. Substrate proteins were identified by mass spectrometry using biotin‐labeled peptides (pepK5/pepT26) or amine donor (biotinylated pentylamine; BPA). Crosslinking‐induced aggregation and fragmentation of keratin 18 and 8 (K18/K8)
