Methods for Determining the Number of Mold Fungi in the Air—Current Trends

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 18, Issue 4, August 2026.
A unified methodological framework combining culture‐based, molecular, and data‐driven approaches to advance reliable measurement and interpretation of indoor fungal bioaerosols. ABSTRACT Indoor fungal contamination poses significant health concerns due to the diversity and dynamic behaviour of airborne spores.

Mitoquinone Prevents Cardiac Dysfunction by Normalizing Mitochondrial ROS and Calcium Handling in Acute Myocardial Infarction

open access: yesActa Physiologica, Volume 242, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Acute myocardial infarction (MI) is the leading cause of heart failure (HF). However, the role of mitochondrial ROS (ROSm) in early MI dysfunction remains unclear. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of MitoQ on cardiac function in cases of heart HF following MI.

Resistance‐exercise‐induced stress intervenes in TGF‐β signaling by cooperatively downregulating nuclear αB‐crystallin and SMAD4 in human skeletal muscle fibers

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, Volume 293, Issue 15, Page 4624-4644, August 2026.
Alpha‐crystallin B chain (CRYAB) has been reported to stabilize mothers against decapentaplegic homolog 4 (SMAD4) in transforming growth factor‐β (TGF‐β) signaling, enabling target gene transcription. We show nuclear CRYAB–SMAD4 interaction for the first time in human skeletal muscle fibers and its regulation by exercise.

Aerobic Endurance Training Modulates Cardiac Renin‐Angiotensin System Peptides and Matrix Metalloproteinase Activity During Chronic Stress

open access: yesJournal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Volume 30, Issue 15, August 2026.
ABSTRACT To investigate the involvement of metalloproteinases (MMPs) in the context of endurance training and their interactions with renin‐angiotensin signalling (RAS) in stress‐induced pathophysiological responses. Trained rats were submitted to 8‐weeks of endurance treadmill training with chronic mild stress (CMS), TS rats, and without CMS (T).
