K-Casein Gene Phylogeny of Higher Ruminants (Pecora, Artiodactyla)
Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolution, 1996To assess phylogenetic relationships among the higher ruminants (infraorder Pecora, order Artiodactyla), we analyzed K-casein DNA sequences, including 434 nucleotides of the fourth exon. The higher ruminant families Bovidae, Cervidae, Giraffidae, and Antilocapridae each have monophyletic K-casein sequences.

PRODUCTION OF k‐CASEIN CONCENTRATE FROM COMMERCIAL CASEIN
Journal of Food Science, 1978ABSTRACT Differential solubilities of casein fractions in solutions of calcium chloride have been used as the basis for separating calcium‐soluble k ‐casein from calcium‐insoluble casein fractions. The amount of protein precipitated increased linearly with increasing calcium

Effect of k-casein glycosylation on the properties of milk
1994A study was conducted to determine the relationship between the degree of glycosylation of $ kappa$-casein (CN) and physicochemical properties of milk: heat stability and ethanol stability. Morning milk samples from individual Holstein cows (genotype $ kappa$-CN AA, $ beta$-CN A$ sb1$A$ sb2$, $ alpha sb{ rm s1}$-CN BB, $ beta$-lactoglobulin AB) in ...

Studies on the functions of disulfide linkages in k-casein
2010A three part investigation is described in which a method for measuring SH and SS contents of K-casein and some other food proteins, utilizing Ellman's reagent, was developed. The role of disulfide groups in the stability of heated K-casein,i was studied after modification of those groups by desulfurization or alkylation.

k‐Casein Heterogeneity and Mild Heating Effects on Susceptibility to Chymosin Action
Journal of Food Science, 1992ABSTRACT Bovine SH‐k‐casein (k‐C‐pool) was fractionated into five components based on carbohydrate and sialic acid contents (k‐C‐P 1 < k‐C‐P 2 < k‐C‐P 3 < k‐C‐P 4

Studies on the structure and interaction of bovine k-casein, using fluorometric techniques
2011The structure and interactions of κ -casein were studied using spectrofluorometric techniques including, fluorescent yield, emission wavelength, energy transfer, and fluorescence depolarisation. The effect of denaturing factors, temperature, sodium dodecyl sulfate, ionic strength, urea and pH, on the fluorescent characteristics of a conjugate of κ ...
