Evaluation of an ABO antibody immunoadsorption column for reduction of anti‐A and anti‐B isoagglutinin titers in group O platelet units

open access: yesTransfusion, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Clinical guidelines recommend transfusing ABO‐identical platelets where possible. However, the short shelf life of platelets (5–7 days) and stock availability mean ABO‐nonidentical platelet transfusions are sometimes unavoidable. Minor ABO‐incompatible platelet transfusions carry a risk of hemolysis due to donor anti‐A/B antibodies,

Proteomic signatures of equine dental tooth tissues in ageing and disease

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, Volume 58, Issue 6, Page 1552-1569, November 2026.
Abstract Background Ageing and dental disease in horses lead to structural and functional deterioration of dental tissues, yet their molecular signatures remain poorly characterised. Understanding how these processes alter the protein composition of enamel, dentin, cementum and pulp is essential for improving equine oral health and identifying ...

Exogenous kallikrein protects against diabetic nephropathy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The kallikrein-kinin system has been shown to be involved in the development of diabetic nephropathy, but specific mechanisms are not fully understood. Here, we determined the renal-protective role of exogenous pancreatic kallikrein in diabetic mice and ...

Proteomic Pathways Linking Type 2 Diabetes Genetic Clusters to Cardiovascular Diseases: A Network Mendelian Randomisation Study

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, Volume 28, Issue 11, Page 10428-10438, November 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Genetic clusters related to Type 2 diabetes (T2D) have differential impact on cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), although the underlying mechanisms, such as proteomic perturbation, remain unexplored. We conducted a network Mendelian randomisation (MR) study to identify proteomic mediators linking T2D genetic clusters and CVDs.

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, Volume 600, Issue 19, Page 2917-2928, October 2026.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

Assembly of Bioactive Superstructures via Metal–Phenolic Complexation for Blood Purification

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 40, 28 September 2026.
Bioactive superstructures are assembled via metal–phenolic‐mediated assembly on agarose templates, followed by modification with human serum albumin. These superstructures demonstrate high bilirubin adsorption efficiency, strong antibacterial activity, and anticoagulant activity, providing a strategy for the rational design of multifunctional blood ...

Centralized care model for hereditary angioedema overcomes geographical barriers

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
Hereditary angioedema due to C1 inhibitor deficiency (HAE) is a rare inborn error of immunity that presents with episodic swelling. Management is multifaceted and includes on-demand treatment of swelling episodes, short-term prophylaxis to prevent ...
