Keratin bionanocomposite film cross-linked and reinforced with functionalized cellulose nanocrystals (fCNCs)

open access: yesResults in Engineering
Chicken feathers are produced in large quantities worldwide as waste, and millions of tons are globally discarded each year. This issue creates significant environmental and disposal challenges.

Highly Efficient Dissolution of Wool Keratin by Dimethylphosphate Ionic Liquids

open access: yes, 2015
Ionic liquids (ILs) are eco-friendly solvents and exhibit excellent performance for dissolution and regeneration of wool keratin. In this work, a series of ILs are designed and synthesized to investigate effects of IL structures on dissolving wool ...

A Non‐Canonical Role of SMAD4 in Regulating 3D Genome Architecture to Inhibit Lung Squamous Cell Carcinoma Development

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
SMAD4 is identified as a guardian of 3D genome architecture in lung squamous cell carcinoma. Loss of SMAD4 unleashes EP300 at chromatin loop anchors, strengthening enhancer–promoter looping and H3K27ac at the SOX2 locus to drive aberrant SOX2 activation and tumor cell proliferation.

An ex vivo comparison of the tensile strengthening properties of protein derivatives on damaged hair [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Conventional conditioning agents, cationic surfactants and polymers, are often limited in their ability to repair and strengthen the hair fibre, while protein-derived actives have been found to enhance the tensile strength of damaged hair.

KRT14 Drives Basal Muscle‐Invasive Bladder Cancer Progression and Lung Metastasis by Directly Binding to and Stabilizing IGF2BP1

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We identified a Krt14+ Igf2bp1+ bladder cancer population linked to EMT. Mechanistically, KRT14 stabilizes and transports IGF2BP1 to invasive protrusions, initiating a positive feedback loop that drives metastasis and poor outcomes. ABSTRACT Basal‐type muscle‐invasive bladder cancer (BMIBC) is characterized by aggressive metastasis and poor prognosis ...

Keratin Filaments in the Epithelial Cells of Circumvallate Papillae

open access: yes, 1988
P(論文)Keratin filaments of epithelial cells of both the dorsal surface and the trench wall in the circumvallate papillae were studied by conventional electron microscopy and by immunohisto- chemistry using antikeratin antibodies.

Epidermal METTL1‐Mediated m7G Modification Drives Psoriatic Inflammation by Stabilizing Bdkrb1 and Orchestrating Neutrophil Recruitment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study unveils an unrecognized pro‐inflammatory epitranscriptomic checkpoint in psoriasis. By installing m7G modifications on the 5′ UTR of Bdkrb1 mRNA, METTL1 enhances receptor stability to orchestrate keratinocyte‐driven neutrophil recruitment via p38 MAPK signaling.

Selenium Nanomaterials for Wound Healing: Synergistic Strategies from Anti‐Infection to Tissue Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
Selenium nanoparticles (SeNPs) are emerging as multifunctional platforms for wound healing, integrating antimicrobial, anti‐inflammatory, and proregenerative activities. This review summarises key mechanisms and recent advances in SeNP‐enabled composite dressings, immunomodulatory nanocomposites, microenvironment‐responsive hydrogels, photothermal and ...

The Wnt inhibitory factor 1 restoration in prostate cancer cells was associated with reduced tumor growth, decreased capacity of cell migration and invasion and a reversal of epithelial to mesenchymal transition

open access: yesMolecular Cancer, 2010
Background Aberrations in the Wnt pathway have been reported to be involved in the metastasis of prostate cancer (PCa) to bone. We investigated the effect and underlying mechanism of a naturally-occurring Wnt inhibitor, WIF1, on the growth and cellular ...
