Microdetermination of pyruvic and α-ketoglutaric acids
Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1952Abstract A colorimetric micro procedure for simultaneous determination of pyruvic and α-ketoglutaric acids in mixtures is described. The yellow color of the 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazones of these acids, and the red colors produced on subsequent alkali treatment, are measured. The range is from 0.10 to 0.25 μmole of total keto acid contained in 1 ml. of

Blood pyruvic and α-ketoglutaric acids in thiamine deficiency
Metabolism, 1965The concentrations of blood pyruvic and α -ketoglutaric acids were measured chromatographically in malnourished and chronic alcoholic subjects suspected of being deficient in thiamine. The mean fasting levels of both were elevated, but after a loading dose of glucose, only pyruvate showed any marked further increase; the levels of each returned to ...

Transamination of Aminoalkylphosphonic Acids with Alpha Ketoglutarate
Science, 1968Dialyzed homogenates prepared from Escherichia coli , Tetrahymena pyriformis , sea anemone ( Anthopleura elegantissima ), and mouse liver were tested for ability to transaminate 17 aminoalkylphosphonic acids with α-ketoglutarate.

The 2,4-dichlorophenoxy acid (2,4-D) α-ketoglutarate dioxygenase gene tfdA of Alcaligenes eutrophus pJP4 derivative plasmid pRO101 was cloned in pBluescript SK + and expressed in Escherichia coli DH5α at a high level. Cell-free extract of the recombinant organism could convert 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid into 2,4-dichlorophenol (DCP). Production of

Photometric determination of α-ketoglutaric acid with diazotized sulphanilic acid
Talanta, 1969A new photometric method for the determination of alpha-ketoglutaric acid is presented. It is based on the colour reaction of alpha-ketoglutaric acid in sodium hydroxide solution with diazotized sulphanilic acid in the presence of sodium sulphite and sodium hypophosphite. This method is highly sensitive and fairly selective for alpha-ketoglutaric acid,

Regulation mechanism for fatty acid and α-ketoglutarate oxidations
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Bioenergetics, 1971Abstract In uncoupled mitochondria the activation of fatty acid within the inner membrane matrix space by the ATP-dependent acyl-CoA synthetase produces a considerable accumulation of AMP which remains sequestered within the same space, inhibiting the acyl-CoA synthetase.

Overproduction and secretion of α-ketoglutaric acid by microorganisms
Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, 2011This mini-review presents a summary of research results of biotechnological production of alpha-ketoglutaric acid (KGA) by bacteria and yeasts. KGA is of particular industrial interest due to its broad application scope, e.g., as building block chemical for the chemical synthesis of heterocycles, dietary supplement, component of infusion solutions and ...

Indole acetic acid production by Rhizobium: Effect of 2-ketoglutaric acid
Soil Biology and Biochemistry, 1982Abstract I ndole acetic acid (IAA) production from tryptophan by cell suspensions of Rhizobium trifolii, R. leguminosarum, R. phaseoli and R. lupini was studied in the presence or in the absence of 2-ketoglutaric acid. In R. lupini, production of IAA was strongly enhanced by the ketoacid, but in fast growing rhizobia it was less enhanced or ...
