RNA: A Reject Neighbors Algorithm for Influence Maximization in Complex Networks

open access: yesMathematics, 2020
The influence maximization problem (IMP) in complex networks is to address finding a set of key nodes that play vital roles in the information diffusion process, and when these nodes are employed as ”seed nodes”, the diffusion effect is maximized. First,

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Ranking method for optimizing precision/recall of content-based image retrieval [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The ranking method is a key element of Content-based Image Retrieval (CBIR) system, which can affect the final retrieval performance. In the literature, previous ranking methods based on either distance or probability do not explicitly relate to ...

In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

From Query-By-Keyword to Query-By-Example: LinkedIn Talent Search Approach

open access: yes, 2017
One key challenge in talent search is to translate complex criteria of a hiring position into a search query, while it is relatively easy for a searcher to list examples of suitable candidates for a given position.

Cryptanalysis of a rank-based signature with short public keys [PDF]

open access: yesDesigns, Codes and Cryptography, 2019
The {\em threat} of quantum computation has caused the search of new primitive for public-key encryption and cryptographic protocols. Recently \textit{Y. Song} et al. (SHMW) [Cryptology ePrint Archive, Report 2019/053, (2019)] proposed a digital signature scheme, with small keys, based on error-correcting codes (rank metric codes, in fact).

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...
