PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Systemic and Intra-Nodal Activation of NK Cells After Rituximab Monotherapy for Follicular Lymphoma

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2019
Monotherapy with the anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody rituximab can induce complete responses (CR) in patients with follicular lymphoma (FL). Resting FcRγIII+ (CD16+) natural killer (NK) cells respond strongly to rituximab-coated target cells in vitro. Yet,

Assessment of Inflammatory Domain on the Proliferative Activity of Odontogenic Keratocyst in Comparison with Dentigerous Cyst and Perapical Cyst

open access: yesJournal of Orofacial Sciences, 2021
Introduction: Ki67 is a proven marker in assessing the aggressiveness of various neoplasms expressed in proliferating cells. The recognized role of p53 in a stress-induced cell represents gene mutation or disturbance of growth regulation.

Pathogen burden, inflammation, proliferation and apoptosis in human in-stent restenosis - Tissue characteristics compared to primary atherosclerosis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Pathogenic events leading to in-stent restenosis (ISR) are still incompletely understood. Among others, inflammation, immune reactions, deregulated cell death and growth have been suggested. Therefore, atherectomy probes from 21 patients with symptomatic

Neoadjuvant endocrine therapy for luminal breast cancer treatment: a first-choice alternative in times of crisis such as the COVID-19 pandemic [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The epidemiological emergency caused by CoV-2 (COVID-19) has changed priorities in breast cancer management. In those places where the pandemic has had the greatest effect, it is of paramount importance for most patients to be at home, reducing or ...

Ki67 Quantitative Interpretation: Insights using Image Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Pathology Informatics, 2019
Proliferation markers, especially Ki67, are increasingly important in diagnosis and prognosis. The best method for calculating Ki67 is still the subject of debate. We evaluated an image analysis tool for quantitative interpretation of Ki67 in neuroendocrine tumors and compared it to manual counts.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Serous Tubal Intraepithelial Lesion: A Precancerous Lesion - An Incidental Finding in Tubo-Ovarian Torsion

open access: yesMedical Journal of Dr. D.Y. Patil Vidyapeeth
Proliferative epithelial lesions in the fallopian tubes may be found incidentally during the microscopic examination of salpingectomy specimens. Recent evidence has clearly implicated the changes in the mucosa of the fimbrial end of the fallopian tube in

Possible Association of CD68 Positive Macrophages with Some other Prognostic Factors (ki67, ER, PR, Her2 neu) in Primary Breast Cancer and Axillary Lymph Node Metastasis [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Kerman University of Medical Sciences, 2017
Background: Breast cancer is formed of a neoplastic component (epithelial) and a non-neoplastic component (stroma). Stromal- stromal and tumor- stromal interactions have been shown in the regulation of cancer cell growth, metastatic capacity and outcome ...

A single heterochronic blood exchange reveals rapid inhibition of multiple tissues by old blood. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Heterochronic parabiosis rejuvenates the performance of old tissue stem cells at some expense to the young, but whether this is through shared circulation or shared organs is unclear.
