Physicochemical Characterization of Konjac Glucomannan
Biomacromolecules, 2005Four commercial konjac glucomannan (KGM) samples and a glucomannan derived from yeast were characterized by aqueous gel permeation chromatography coupled with multi angle laser light scattering (GPC-MALLS). Disaggregation of aqueous glucomannan solutions through controlled use of a microwave bomb facilitated reproducible molar mass distribution ...

AbstractThe impact of ingesting glucomannans on health is not limited to colonic‐focused fermentation into short‐chain fatty acids (SCFAs), which might have some local health benefits; it also helps in treating disease states and enhancing the body's immune system, both within the gut and in/on other parts of the body.

Konjac glucomannan, a promising polysaccharide of Amorphophallus konjac K. Koch in health care
International Journal of Biological Macromolecules, 2016In recent year, konjac glucomannan (KGM) has attracted more attention due to its non-harmful and non-toxic properties, good biocompatibility, biodegradability and hydrophilic ability. Moreover, KGM and their derivatives have several importances in the multidirectional research areas such as nutritional, biotechnological and fine chemical fields. In the

Hypoglycemic and antioxidant properties of konjac ( Amorphophallus konjac ) in vitro and in vivo
Journal of Food Biochemistry, 2020The aim of this study was to evaluate the hypoglycemic and antioxidant potential of konjac in vitro and in vivo. Glucose diffusion and enzymatic starch digestion of konjac were assayed using α-amylase and α-glucosidase. Oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) and oral starch tolerance test (OSTT) were performed at dose of 102 mg/Kg of body weight ...

A simple and feasible approach to purify konjac glucomannan from konjac flour – Temperature effect
Food Chemistry, 2014A simple one-step purification process was provided to extract KGM from KF by phase separation. The results showed that appropriate temperature control was a key factor and the products were inodorous, colourless and of high purity at the optimal temperature 68 °C.

Preparation of Dialdehyde Konjac Glucomamman
Advanced Materials Research, 2011Dialdehyde konjac glucomannan (DAKGM) was synthesized by konjac glucomannan via sodium periodate (NaIO4) as an oxidant and characterized by NMR and FTIR spectroscopy techniques. The results indicated that the oxidization of KGM catalyzed by NaIO4 was highly selective for C2 and C3 of sugar units to form aldehyde group.

Sulfation and biological activities of konjac glucomannan
Carbohydrate Polymers, 2013The sulfation of konjac glucomannan and its anti-HIV and blood anticoagulant activities were investigated. Konjac glucomannan is a polysaccharide occurring naturally in konjac plant tubers and has high molecular weights. Solubility in water is very low, and the aqueous solutions at low concentrations have high viscosity. Before sulfation, hydrolysis by
