Regulation of ribosomal protein L32 synthesis by hormones

open access: yes, 2000
Ribosome production is closely coupled to the proliferative state of the cell and responds rapidly to changes in the demand for protein synthesis caused by various physiological stimuli. Control of ribosome biogenesis is accomplished by regulating the synthesis of the various precursor molecules that are assembled into mature ribosomes.

Trans-Neptunian Object Colors as Evidence for a Past Close Stellar Flyby to the Solar System

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
Thousands of small bodies, known as trans-Neptunian objects (TNOs), orbit the Sun beyond Neptune. TNOs are remnants of the planets’ formation from a disk of gas and dust, so it is puzzling that they move mostly on eccentric orbits inclined to the ...

Handy Relation between Binary Black Hole Merger Times and Host Galaxy Properties

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
Over the past 15 yr, the evidence has clearly demonstrated that massive black hole (MBH) binary merger timescales depend strongly on the structural and kinematic properties of their host galaxy.

The Polar Vortex Hypothesis: Evolving, Spectrally Distinct Polar Regions Explain Short- and Long-term Light-curve Evolution and Color–Inclination Trends in Brown Dwarfs and Giant Exoplanets

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
Recent studies revealed viewing-angle-dependent color and spectral trends in brown dwarfs, as well as long-term photometric variability (∼100 hr). The origins of these trends are yet unexplained.
