L-Glutamine in sickle cell disease

Drugs of Today, 2020
L-Glutamine is a conditionally essential amino acid required for synthesis of the pyridines for nucleotides, including nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) and glutathione, as well as glutamate, and becomes essential during oxidative stress exposure.

Differentiation of a transformed culture of L-cells

Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine, 1978
The cells of line L originated from the connective and adipose tissue of mice C3H were cultivated in nutrient medium with a 60% bovine serum. Some cells differentiated into adipose cells with formation of structures similar to normal adipose tissue. The occurring differentiation was evaluated by the formation of characteristic signetring cells whose ...

Growth of the L‐cell in galactose medium

Journal of Cellular Physiology, 1967
AbstractThe failure of the L‐cell to grow in a medium containing galactose as the sole carbohydrate was found to be directly related to the initial pH of the medium. Excellent growth of L‐M cultures in Eagle's minimum essential medium containing galactose instead of glucose was obtained by adjusting the medium to pH 6.2–6.8.

Neurosecretory cells inArtemia salina L.

Experientia, 1965

[Centrioles in the cell cycle of L cells].

Ontogenez, 1988
The structure of centrosome in non-synchronous L-cells culture during the cell cycle has been studied. In mitosis, mother and daughter centrioles, which differ in their ultrastructure, are located perpendicularly in the pole of the spindle. Microtubules, meeting in the pole area terminate mainly in electron-dense clottings of fibrillar matter ...

Antibody to immunoselected L-cell antigens mimics stimulating activity of antibody to whole L cells

Cellular Immunology, 1984
A heterogeneous IgG antibody raised in rabbits in response to injections of whole L cells was used to identify and select relevant antigens in a nonionic detergent extract of L cells prelabeled with [35S]methionine by means of immunoprecipitation and immunoaffinity chromatography.

Contamination of human melanoma cell lines by mouse L cells

Pathology, 1977
Five of 8 cell lines from human melanomas originally established elsewhere were found to consist exclusively of mouse cells when examined in our laboratory some months after their receipt. Cytogenetic studies, including G- and C-banding, showed that the mouse cells in all cultures had originated from a single cell line, identified as the L-line ...

Radiosensitivity and recovery of mouse L cells during the cell cycle

Radiation and Environmental Biophysics, 1977
Mouse fibroblasts, subline L-929 F were synchronized by mitotic detachment. The synchronized cell cultures were irradiated with 200 kVp X-rays at different time after mitosis, and age response functions and dose effect curves were determined using the colony test.

A cell surface alteration in mouse L cells induced by interferon

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1977
Abstract Mouse L cells grown in suspension culture when treated with L cell interferon have a greater electrophoretic mobility toward the anode than control cells. This change in electrophoretic mobility depends on the concentration of interferon in the medium and the duration of interferon interaction with the cells.

Introduction of mouse L cell nucleus into heterologous mammalian cells

Nature, 1974
HARRIS1 first achieved the introduction of a chick erythrocyte nucleus into other nucleated mammalian cells, without any detectable incorporation of chick erythrocyte cytoplasma, using inactivated Sendai virus. Since then chick erythrocyte nuclei have provided a way of investigating the genetic regulation of nuclear synthetic activities in the presence
