Targeting UXS1‐Dependent Glucuronate Detoxification Potentiates Metformin's Anti‐Tumor Efficacy in Lung Adenocarcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that metformin promotes glucuronic acid metabolism in lung adenocarcinoma by activating UGDH S476 phosphorylation and enhancing the conversion of UDPG to UDPGA based on metabolomics analysis. Through compound virtual screening, it is found that plantainoside targeting UGDH downstream UXS1 leads to UDPGA toxicity accumulation ...

Effect of Sodium Lactate Infusion on Urate Clearance in Man.

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1957
SummaryRenal clearance studies are described which corroborate and extend earlier observations indicating that administration of sodium lactate in sufficient dosage results in a profound fall in urinary excretion of uric acid. Curate declined from a mean control level of 10.4 ml/min. to a mean minimum of 1.4 ml/min.

Enhanced Glycolysis‐Driven Histone H3K18 Lactylation Regulates Epileptogenesis by Modulating the E3 Ubiquitin Ligase COP1

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Neuronal PKM2‐driven glycolysis generates excess lactate that triggers histone H3K18 lactylation (H3K18la), establishing a pathogenic metabolic‐epigenetic axis in epilepsy. Elevated H3K18la enriches the Cop1 promoter, transcriptionally upregulating the E3 ubiquitin ligase COP1, which subsequently drives proteasomal degradation of GABAARβ2 and impairs ...

Role of Arterial Lactate and Lactate Clearance in Risk Stratification of Patients with Upper Gastrointestinal Bleeding Presenting to the Emergency Department for use at Primary Health Care Level

open access: yesJournal of Applied Sciences and Clinical Practice
Background: Upper gastrointestinal bleeding is a common presenting complaint in the emergency department (ED) and carries a small but significant mortality rate. In spite of the availability of various scoring systems, risk stratification for in hospital

Role of Blood Lactate Clearance in Predicting Outcomes among Septic Patients Admitted to the PICU: A Prospective Cohort Study [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research
Introduction: A crucial metric for evaluating the effectiveness of microcirculation in septic shock is serum lactate. Lactate clearance within the first 24 hours of admission has predictive value for death in Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU ...

Lactate Clearance versus Central Venous Oxygen Saturation as Goals of Early Sepsis Therapy

open access: yes, 2018
The multicenter randomized control trial of “Lactate Clearance versus Central Oxygen Saturation as Goals of Early Sepsis Therapy” compares the standard monitoring of central venous oxygen saturation (ScvO2) recommended by the Surviving Sepsis Campaign ...

Canagliflozin Alleviates Diabetic Glomerular Endothelial Injury via Melibiose in a Microbiota‐Dependent Manner

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Canagliflozin treatment reshapes the gut microbiota in DKD and elevates levels of melibiose, a metabolite derived from Roseburia intestinalis. Melibiose directly binds to and enhances the enzymatic activity of glyoxalase 1, leading to decreased methylglyoxal accumulation.

Blood lactate clearance after maximal exercise depends on active recovery intensity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
AIM: High-intensity exercise is time-limited by onset of fatigue, marked by accumulation of blood lactate. This is accentuated at maximal, all-out exercise that rapidly accumulates high blood lactate.

Increased clearance of lactate after short-term training in men

open access: yes, 1995
A short-term training model previously shown to result in a tighter metabolic control in working muscle in the absence of an increase in mitochondrial potential was used to examine changes in lactate turnover.

A Brain‐Wide Atlas of Astrocytic Oxytocin Receptors Reveals a Glial Basis for Nucleus Accumbens Modulation of Affiliative Behavior

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The cellular actors of oxytocin signaling are under intense scrutiny. A brain‐wide anatomical and functional analysis in mice and rats reveals widespread expression of oxytocin receptors in astrocytes. These receptors are functionally active and, in the nucleus accumbens, selectively regulate male social affiliation.
