Recyclable, Biobased Polycarbonates and Polyesters by Naphthoxy‐Imine Zinc and Magnesium Complexes

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Zinc and magnesium complexes, like skilled composers, craft polymeric symphonies by orchestrating diverse combinations of monomers. Once their performance is complete, the polymers gracefully can be decomposed back into their original monomers, ready to be composed into new symphonies. Abstract Naphthoxy‐imine pyridine zinc and magnesium complexes were

Influence of the Substitution Pattern of Terpene‐Based Seven‐Membered Lactones on Yttrium‐Mediated Ring‐Opening Polymerization: A Kinetic and Mechanistic Investigation

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
(‐)‐Menthide and trans (+)‐carvomenthide, differing only in substitution pattern, were polymerized via ROP using a bis(phenolate) yttrium catalyst. Kinetic studies showed faster polymerization of (+)‐carvomenthide but greater control with (‐)‐menthide. Experimental and DFT analyses revealed mechanistic differences in chain propagation, highlighting how

Total Synthesis of (+)‐Disorazole Z1

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
The first total synthesis of disorazole Z1, a highly up to picomolar active cytotoxic natural product, is presented. An acyclic carbon chain containing a chiral quaternary carbon center surrounded by two chiral secondary alcohols was synthesized and combined with a functionalized diene‐stannane to obtain the carbon skeleton of one half of disorazole Z1.

Intramolecular PCET of α‐Keto Acids: Synthesis of Trifluoromethyl Ketones via Ketyl Radicals

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Decarboxylation of α‐keto acids have conventionally served as simple building blocks for the generation of nucleophilic acyl radicals. Herein, we demonstrate a distinct approach for this substrate class, showcasing the generation of ketyl radicals through a proton‐coupled electron transfer (PCET) mechanism.

Sustainable Hydrogen Production by Glycerol and Monosaccharides Catalytic Acceptorless Dehydrogenation (AD) in Homogeneous Phase

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 18, Issue 6, March 15, 2025.
Sustainable hydrogen production can be obtained from hydogen‐rich biomass‐derived organic molecules through Acceptorless Dehydrogenation (AD) reactions. Glycerol and sugars are available in large quantities from industry and can be successfully used as substrates in AD protocols, in the presence of tailored, selective, easily tunable and thermally ...

En Route Toward Sustainable Polycarbonates via Large Cyclic Carbonates

open access: yesChemSusChem, EarlyView.
The use of safe carbonylating agents, allowed by a suitable (bio)catalytic systems, affords the sustainable and green synthesis of large‐ring cyclic carbonates by reaction of renewables such as bio‐based diols. These carbonates are prone to ring‐opening polymerization paving the way for the production of circular aliphatic polycarbonates.
