Developing Learning Objects through Concepts and Contexts

2003
The Internet has promoted several changes in the world, including on education. People have been more interested in learning, which makes developing higher quality content material even more important. In addition, people want to satisfy their learning needs according to their personal characteristics such as knowledge background and learning style ...

A music programming tool for learning object-oriented concepts

Seventh IEEE International Conference on Advanced Learning Technologies (ICALT 2007), 2007
Object-oriented concepts are difficult to learn. In this paper, we propose a music programming language that involves music in object-oriented programming. We also present a client-server based system for individual learning and a P2P-based system for collaborative learning in a JXTA network.

An E-learning Concept Mindmap and the Management of the Underlying Learning Objects

2004
We opted to work with the E-mindmap-principle cause of the innumerable advantages. It allows that the content is provided in a graphical way. The e-learning process will be built as a sequence of MINDMAPS. To work with the E-mindmap-principle, the mindmaps and units have to be structured as independent LO’s.

Learning of Object Concept Through Function and Shape

TENCON 2006 - 2006 IEEE Region 10 Conference, 2006
This paper discusses a novel framework for object understanding. Many conventional object learning and recognition frameworks rely upon visual information. We model object concept through the relationship between shape and function. Implementation of the proposed framework using Bayesian Netowrk is also presented.

Pedagogies and Tools for the Teaching and Learning of Object Oriented Concepts

2008
This report summarizes the results of the eleventh workshop on pedagogies and tools for the teaching and learning of object-oriented concepts. The focus of this year’s workshop was on desirable properties of examples and the usage of simple tools. The workshop gathered 17 participants, all from academia, from 7 different countries.

Building a Visualized Learning Tool to Facilitate the Concept Learning of Object-Oriented Programming

2017 6th IIAI International Congress on Advanced Applied Informatics (IIAI-AAI), 2017
Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) plays a significant role for the modern software development. However, most students find it difficult to learn the OOP concepts well because they are usually abstract and hard to image. Therefore, the pressing issue is how to efficiently facilitate the OOP learning.

An approach for the use of Learning Objects in teaching computer programming concepts

2016 IEEE Frontiers in Education Conference (FIE), 2016
The teaching of algorithms and programming concepts to students of the first years of Computer Science course has been a major challenge, because students often have difficulty understanding the subject, leading to a high dropout rate. At our institution, dropout rate in the first year of the Computer Science course is 26%, which led us to think of ...

Online Algorithm for Robots to Learn Object Concepts and Language Model

IEEE Transactions on Cognitive and Developmental Systems, 2017
Humans form concept of objects by classifying them into categories, and acquire language by simultaneously interacting with others. Thus, the meaning of a word can be learned by connecting a recognized word to its corresponding concept. We consider this ability important for robots to flexibly develop knowledge of language and concepts.

Knowing Verb From Object: Retagging With Transfer Learning on Verb-Object Concept Images

IEEE Transactions on Multimedia, 2015
Image retagging is significant and essential for tag-based applications, such as search and browsing. However, most existing image retagging approaches are typically based on enriching-and-removing and/or reranking strategies, which lead to two drawbacks: 1) since the object and/or human appeared in the images are tagged as individuals, the meanings ...

Learning Relationships Between Objects and Places by Multimodal Spatial Concept with Bag of Objects

2017
Human support robots need to learn the relationships between objects and places to provide services such as cleaning rooms and locating objects through linguistic communications. In this paper, we propose a Bayesian probabilistic model that can automatically model and estimate the probability of objects existing in each place using a multimodal spatial
