The Problem of Christ’s Acquired Knowledge

open access: yesModern Theology, EarlyView.
Abstract Thomas Aquinas is universally applauded for his “courage and perspicacity” in eventually admitting an acquired knowledge in Christ. According to this doctrine, Christ, through the experience of his senses, came to know what he previously did not know.

Die höchsten Oxidationsstufen der Seltenerdelemente und die Probleme mit den Praseodym(+5)‐Verbindungen

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 1, 2 January 2026.

Teaching plant identification at a university in the age of artificial intelligence

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, Volume 8, Issue 1, Page 20-25, January 2026.
Society depends on experts able to correctly identify plants. This skill set is taught at university, classically using tools such as identification keys. The advent of artificial intelligence apps for identification, while benefiting society in many ways, poses a challenge for university education: Students may not see the need for learning skills ...

Hermann Lotze and Franz Brentano [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The task of this paper is to show that Franz Brentano was not a solitary figure who advanced his philosophy in complete isolation from other contemporary philosophers in Germany, as some Neo-Brentanists have claimed over the last 30–40 years.

Testimonial for Christ? A Theology of Witness in the Face of Testimonial Studies

open access: yesInternational Journal of Systematic Theology, Volume 28, Issue 1, Page 34-55, January 2026.
Abstract As a contemporary mode of discourse and basic concept of Christian existence, the concept of witnessing, at the interface of public theology and testimonial studies, is examined with regard to its epistemic dimension: What implications does witnessing as knowledge practice have for theology? To this end, the paper outlines the understanding of

A Parameterized Complexity Analysis of Bi-level Optimisation with Evolutionary Algorithms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Bi-level optimisation problems have gained increasing interest in the field of combinatorial optimisation in recent years. With this paper, we start the runtime analysis of evolutionary algorithms for bi-level optimisation problems.

Latent Ideological Positions of Swiss Parties and Subsets of the Population

open access: yesSwiss Political Science Review, Volume 31, Issue 4, Page 733-752, December 2025.
Abstract Prominent theories of political representation consider ideology to be a central concept that links political elites and citizens. However, studies usually rely on different data and measures to operationalize this concept. This paper presents a two‐step estimation strategy for measuring the ideological positions of parties and population ...

First Steps Towards a Runtime Comparison of Natural and Artificial Evolution

open access: yes, 2015
Evolutionary algorithms (EAs) form a popular optimisation paradigm inspired by natural evolution. In recent years the field of evolutionary computation has developed a rigorous analytical theory to analyse their runtime on many illustrative problems ...

Einfluss der Säurereaktivität von Carbeniumionen in Zeolithen auf den Methanol‐zu‐Olefinen‐Prozess

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 137, Issue 47, November 17, 2025.
Herein we studied the Brønsted acid reactivity of polymethylbenzenium and alkyl‐substituted cyclopentenyl cations, key intermediates in the methanol‐to‐olefins process in ZSM‐5 zeolite. CD3CN selectively and reversibly deprotonates benzenium ions, while cyclopentenyl cations require stronger bases.
