Macaques as model hosts for studies of HIV-1 infection
Increasing evidence indicates that the host range of primate lentiviruses is in part determined by their ability to counteract innate restriction factors that are effectors of the type 1 interferon (IFN-1) response.

This study demonstrates that transcription factor androgen receptor (AR) directly binds the LF promoter, driving lactoferrin overexpression to promote ferritin (FTH1/FTL) upregulation and inhibit p53‐ALOX12‐mediated ferroptosis in prostate cancer. Lactoferrin could be a new potential therapeutic target in prostate cancer.

Lentiviruses are infectious agents of a number of animal species, including sheep, goats, horses, monkeys, cows, and cats, in addition to humans. As in the human case, the host immune response fails to control the establishment of chronic persistent ...

Metastasis remains a major challenge in colorectal cancer. Using an in vivo shRNA screening system, this study identifies Homeobox D4 as a key metastasis suppressor. Reduced Homeobox D4 expression is associated with aggressive tumor features. Functional and mechanistic analyses show that it inhibits epithelial‐mesenchymal transition by repressing ...

Study of possible intrauterine infection of goat fetus with caprine arthritis-encephalitis virus
Caprine arthritis-encephalitis is a serious challenge for the modern goat breeding both in Russia and abroad. The disease is quite widespread in our country, causing serious economic damage to the backyard and family-operated farm owners.

Multi‐omics analyses uncover breed‐specific cis‐regulatory landscapes and higher‐order chromatin architectural differences that underlie early postnatal muscle fiber divergence in pigs. A super‐enhancer upstream of PPP3CB recruits MEF2C to activate PPP3CB transcription, while the PPP3CB–MEF2C positive feedback loop promotes oxidative muscle fiber ...

Primate lentiviruses have evolved sophisticated strategies to suppress the immune response of their host species. For example, HIV-2 and most simian immunodeficiency viruses (SIVs) use their accessory protein Nef to prevent T cell activation and ...

ABSTRACT Iron overload is a common metabolic disturbance in cancer and contributes to poor outcomes in renal cell carcinoma (RCC), yet its effects on the tumour immune microenvironment remain unclear. Here we identify a previously unrecognized immunosuppressive axis in which iron overload downregulates the palmitoyltransferase ZDHHC12 in CD8+ T cells ...
