Binding-and-folding recognition of an intrinsically disordered protein using online learning molecular dynamics [PDF]
Intrinsically disordered proteins participate in many biological processes by folding upon binding with other proteins. However, coupled folding and binding processes are not well understood from an atomistic point of view. One of the main questions is whether folding occurs prior to or after binding.

From Many, One: Genetic Control of Prolificacy during Maize Domestication [PDF]
A reduction in number and an increase in size of inflorescences is a common aspect of plant domestication. When maize was domesticated from teosinte, the number and arrangement of ears changed dramatically. Teosinte has long lateral branches that bear multiple small ears at their nodes and tassels at their tips.

Coacervation driven by liquid‐liquid phase separation (LLPS) of biopolymers has garnered increasing attention in biology since this leads to the formation of membraneless organelles capable of performing essential yet largely unknown functions. This review highlights recent advances in coacervates (artificial condensates) composed of low‐molecular ...

Investigations of a compartmental model for leucine kinetics using nonlinear mixed effects models with ordinary and stochastic differential equations [PDF]
Nonlinear mixed effects models represent a powerful tool to simultaneously analyze data from several individuals. In this study a compartmental model of leucine kinetics is examined and extended with a stochastic differential equation to model non-steady state concentrations of free leucine in the plasma.

Maillard Type Reaction for Electroless Copper Plating onto Ceramic Nanoparticles
This work presents the manufacturing of copper‐plated ceramic nanoparticles in an environmentally friendly way. Supported by organic functionalizations with pectin an electroless plating step can be performed. Sustainable reagents like xylose, and several amino acids are used for the reduction process.

Starch digestion in the small intestines of the dairy cow is low, to a large extent, due to a shortage of syntheses of α-amylase. One strategy to improve the situation is to enhance the synthesis of α-amylase.

Measurability of side chain rotational isomer populations: NMR and molecular mechanics of cobalt glycyl-leucine dipeptide model system [PDF]
The cobalt glycyl-leucine dipeptide is a model system for studying the effects of Karplus equation calibration, molecular mechanics accuracy, backbone conformation, and thermal motions on the measurability of side chain rotational isomer populations.

Compaction and tensile forces determine the accuracy of folding landscape parameters from single molecule pulling experiments [PDF]
We establish a framework for assessing whether the transition state location of a biopolymer, which can be inferred from single molecule pulling experiments, corresponds to the ensemble of structures that have equal probability of reaching either the folded or unfolded states (Pfold = 0.5).

Sonochemical Functionalization of Glass
A new method for functionalizing glass using ultrasonication of aryl diazonium salts. Aryl radicals generated by ultrasounds react with glass, forming a stable, covalently bonded organic film. The functionalized glass adheres microorganisms such as microalgae, fungi, and bacteria, suggesting potential applications in enzyme production, filtration ...

A Trigger Sequence in a Leucine Zipper Aids its Dimerization; Simulation Results [PDF]
Leucine zippers are alpha helical monomers dimerized to a coiled coil structure. Various scenarios for dimerization span interaction of unstructured monomers that form alpha helices in the process of dimerization to preformed alpha helical monomers dimerizing.Another suggested possibility, a trigger sequence hypothesis (M.
