Impact of LIF (leukemia inhibitory factor) expression in malignant melanoma
Leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF) signaling regulates cellular processes to maintain the self-renewal and pluripotency of embryonic stem (ES) cells. Independent of these capabilities, LIF was also identified to be responsible for cancer development and progression. However, its detailed cellular function in cancer remains unclear thus far.

Leukemia inhibitory factor and its role in physiologic and pathological processes [PDF]
Leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF) is celular comunication mediator that shows a very wide range of biologic activities that include the cell differentiation, cell growth and proliferation, cell trophic and anti-apoptotic effect, cell protection of ...

Upregulation of leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF) during the early stage of optic nerve regeneration in zebrafish. [PDF]
Fish retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) can regenerate their axons after optic nerve injury, whereas mammalian RGCs normally fail to do so. Interleukin 6 (IL-6)-type cytokines are involved in cell differentiation, proliferation, survival, and axon regrowth ...

Allogeneic Embryos Disregulate Leukemia Inhibitory Factor (LIF) and Its Receptor in the Porcine Endometrium During Implantation. [PDF]
Despite its advantages for pig breeding, embryo transfer (ET) has a major handicap: high embryo mortality during the pre- and implantation period, probably caused by divergent phenomena of tolerance between the immunologically unrelated (i.e., allogeneic)

Genetically Predicted Gut Microbial Taxa and Inflammatory Proteins Associated With Atrial Fibrillation: A Bidirectional Mendelian Randomization and Colocalization Study. [PDF]
A screen prioritized six microbial or inflammatory traits associated with AF by conventional MR and selectively evaluated them in a second AF GWAS. Sensitivity and cis/trans analyses indicated unequal robustness; the two‐instrument FGF‐5 cis‐only estimate remained preliminary; these findings are hypothesis‐generating, not established causal pathways or

LIF-free embryonic stem cell culture in simulated microgravity. [PDF]
BackgroundLeukemia inhibitory factor (LIF) is an indispensable factor for maintaining mouse embryonic stem (ES) cell pluripotency. A feeder layer and serum are also needed to maintain an undifferentiated state, however, such animal derived materials need

Targeting LIF/LIFR signaling in cancer
Leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF), and its receptor (LIFR), are commonly over-expressed in many solid cancers and recent studies have implicated LIF/LIFR axis as a promising clinical target for cancer therapy.
