Receptor‐mediated binding of leukocyte elastase by chondrocytes [PDF]

open access: yesArthritis & Rheumatism, 1987
AbstractStudies on the effect of leukocyte elastase on the metabolism of chondrocytes in culture have demonstrated that these cells possess a specific cell surface receptor for leukocyte‐derived elastase. Purified elastase from rabbit and human leukocytes is capable of modulating the metabolism of the cell by causing a marked decrease in both ...

Elastase and tryptase govern TNFα-mediated production of active chemerin by adipocytes. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
Chemerin is a leukocyte chemoattractant and adipokine with important immune and metabolic roles. Chemerin, secreted in an inactive form prochemerin, undergoes C-terminal proteolytic cleavage to generate active chemerin, a ligand for the chemokine-like ...

Liver stiffness in patients with Shwachman‐Diamond syndrome

open access: yesJPGN Reports, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective This case series aims to describe whether transient elastography (TE) as a marker of liver stiffness is associated with clinically important liver disease in children and young adults with Shwachman‐Diamond Syndrome (SDS). Methods All patients ≤25 years of age with genetically confirmed SDS seen in the Pediatric Gastroenterology ...

Different behaviour of the N-terminal and C-terminal fragment of proatrial natriuretic factor in plasma of healthy subjects as well as of patients with cirrhosis [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
N-terminal (atrial natriuretic factor (ANF) 1-98) and C-terminal (ANF 99-126) fragments of proatrial natriuretic factor (NTA and CTA, respectively) were determined in plasma of healthy subjects adopting different postures and in patients with cirrhosis ...

Deubiquitinase USP7 Regulates Neutrophil Extracellular Trap Formation and Inflammation in Lipopolysaccharide‐Treated Mice Through ICAM‐1 Expression

open access: yesThe Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Sepsis is typified by organ failure due to an unchecked host reaction to infection. This study aims to explore the mechanism of ubiquitin‐specific peptidase 7 (USP7) in sepsis with the involvement of intercellular adhesion molecule‐1 (ICAM‐1).

Platelets modulate multiple markers of neutrophil function in response to in vitro Toll-like receptor stimulation.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2019
INTRODUCTION:In addition to their role in facilitating leukocyte-mediated inflammation, platelets can dampen leukocyte pro-inflammatory responses in some contexts.

2-Amino- and 2-Alkylthio-4H-3,1-benzothiazin-4-ones: Synthesis, Interconversion and Enzyme Inhibitory Activities

open access: yesMolecules, 2009
The synthetic access to 2-sec-amino-4H-3,1-benzothiazin-4-ones 2 was explored. Compounds 2 were available from methyl 2-thioureidobenzoates 1, 2-thioureidobenzoic acids 3, and novel 2-thioureidobenzamides 6, respectively, under different conditions.

Complement, leukocytes, and leukocyte elastase in full-term neonates undergoing cardiac operation [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, 1994
In 13 neonates undergoing cardiac operations for congenital cardiac defects, complement, leukocytes, and leukocyte elastase were studied during and after cardiopulmonary bypass. All but two neonates received prostaglandin E1 before the operation. The C3d/C3 ratio rose significantly during cardiopulmonary bypass from 0.86 +/- 0.55 to 1.40 +/- 0.56 (mean

Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV): A Comprehensive Overview From Basic Biology to Clinical Prevention and Control

open access: yesMedicinal Research Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a common virus that causes respiratory infections, posing a serious threat, particularly to infants, the elderly, and individuals with compromised immune systems. As the leading cause of lower respiratory tract infections (LRTIs) in infants, RSV is responsible for millions of cases worldwide each year.
