Monoclonal antibodies to leukotoxin of Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans [PDF]

open access: yesInfection and Immunity, 1985
Hybridoma cell lines which produce monoclonal antibodies to a leukotoxin from Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans were prepared. The monoclonal antibodies were selected for their ability to neutralize the cytotoxic activity of the leukotoxin and recognize the toxin on nitrocellulose blots. The antibodies belonged to either the immunoglobulin G1 (IgG1)

Immunosuppressive properties of Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans leukotoxin [PDF]

open access: yesInfection and Immunity, 1988
Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans produces a leukotoxin that kills human polymorphonuclear cells (PMNs) and monocytes but not lymphocytes. In this study, we examined A. actinomycetemcomitans leukotoxin for its ability to alter human peripheral blood lymphocyte (HPBL) responsiveness.

Evaluation of Immunoprotective Effects of Fusobacterium necrophorum Outer Membrane Proteins 43K OMP, Leukotoxin and Hemolysin Multi-Component Recombinant Subunit Vaccine in Mice

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science, 2021
We evaluated the efficacy of three vaccine formulations containing different combinations of proteins (43K OMP, leukotoxin recombinant protein PL4 and hemolysin recombinant protein H2) and killed whole cell Fusobacterium necrophorum in preventing liver ...

Aggregatibacter Actinomycetemcomitans – A Tooth Killer? [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research, 2014
Strong evidence is available on Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans (A.a) on its role as the causative agent of localised juvenile periodontitis (LJP), a disease characterised by rapid destruction of the tooth-supporting tissues.

Identification and characterization of the Pasteurella haemolytica leukotoxin [PDF]

open access: yesInfection and Immunity, 1987
The identification and chromatographic characterization of the leukotoxin of Pasteurella haemolytica is described. The toxin, which has an apparent native molecular weight of greater than 400,000 as judged by gel exclusion chromatography, has a 105-kilodalton (105K) polypeptide as its major protein component.

Detection of a 640-bp deletion in the Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans leukotoxin promoter region in isolates from an adolescent of Ethiopian origin

open access: yesJournal of Oral Microbiology, 2015
The expression of the leukotoxin of Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans is regulated by the leukotoxin promoter. A 530-bp deletion or an 886-bp insertion sequence (IS) element in this region has earlier been described in highly leukotoxic isolates ...

Comparative protection of small ruminants against Mannheimia haemolytica infection by inactivated bacterin and toxoid vaccines [PDF]

open access: yesVeterinary World, 2023
Background and Aim: Mannheimia haemolytica causes respiratory infection and mortality in sheep and goats, similar to the effects in cattle, which causes major economic damage.

Secretion of the Pasteurella leukotoxin by Escherichia coli [PDF]

open access: yesFEMS Microbiology Letters, 1989
Nucleic acid sequence analysis has indicated that the leukotoxin determinant from Pasteurella haemolytica is related to the hemolysin determinant from E. coli. The cloning and expression in E. coli of the lktCA genes has been previously reported, but the existence of leukotoxin secretory genes equivalent to hlyBD has not been documented. In this report

Screen for Leukotoxin Mutants in Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans : Genes of the Phosphotransferase System Are Required for Leukotoxin Biosynthesis [PDF]

open access: yesInfection and Immunity, 2008
ABSTRACT Aggregatibacter (formerly Actinobacillus ) actinomycetemcomitans is a pathogen that causes localized aggressive periodontitis and extraoral infections including infective endocarditis. Recently, we reported that A.

Serotypes of Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans in relation to periodontal status and assessment of leukotoxin in periodontal disease: A clinico-microbiological study

open access: yesJournal of Indian Society of Periodontology, 2018
Context: Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans (A.a) serotypes may add some important information of the pathogenetic background of periodontal infections. A.a leukotoxin is an important virulence factor in the pathogenesis of periodontal disease and its
