Genome Analysis of Staphylococcus aureus Isolated From the Feces of Diarrheal Patients in the Region of East China, 2019–2024

open access: yesInternational Journal of Food Science, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Staphylococcus aureus is a leading cause of foodborne diarrhea, primarily due to staphylococcal enterotoxins (SEs). This study employed whole‐genome sequencing to characterize 106 S. aureus isolates from diarrheal patients in East China (2019–2024). We identified 23 sequence types, with ST398 (22.6%) and ST5 (7.5%) among the most prevalent.

The simultaneous quantification of cytochrome P450 dependent linoleate and arachidonate metabolites in urine by HPLC-MS/MS

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2002
A method for the simultaneous quantification of urinary linoleic and arachidonic acid derived epoxides and diols, as well as the arachidonate omega hydroxylated product has been developed. The method employs negative mode electrospray ionization and HPLC

Aggregatibacter, A Low Abundance Pathobiont That Influences Biogeography, Microbial Dysbiosis, and Host Defense Capabilities in Periodontitis: The History of A Bug, And Localization of Disease

open access: yesPathogens, 2020
Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans, the focus of this review, was initially proposed as a microbe directly related to a phenotypically distinct form of periodontitis called localized juvenile periodontitis.

Periodontal Ecosystem and Clinical Implications of the Oral Microbiome: A Narrative Review

open access: yesInternational Journal of Dentistry, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Background Periodontal disease, although widely documented, remains one of the leading causes of tooth loss worldwide. This situation can be attributed to patients’ difficulty in following treatment protocols and to an incomplete understanding of the disease’s mechanisms, which could be explored to develop new therapies.

Caspase 1 involvement in human monocyte lysis induced by Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans leukotoxin

open access: yes, 2003
Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans, an oral bacterium implicated in the etiology of periodontal diseases, produces a leukotoxin that selectively lyses primate neutrophils and monocytes, the major populations of defense cells in the periodontium. Though

Three variants of the leukotoxin gene in human isolates of Fusobacterium necrophorum subspecies funduliforme

open access: yes, 2017
Leukotoxin is a well-known virulence factor of animal isolates of Fusobacterium necrophorum subspecies necrophorum, and is also expressed by animal isolates of subspecies funduliforme, whereas its presence in isolates from humans has not been fully ...

Periodontitis Salivary Microbiota Exacerbates Murine Rheumatoid Arthritis via Gut Dysbiosis and Immune Dysregulation

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 39, Issue 23, 15 December 2025.
Salivary multiomics from healthy, PD, RA, and PD‐RA cohorts identified PD−/RA‐linked microbial and metabolic signatures. We then transplanted salivary microbiota from a PD donor or a healthy donor into collagen‐induced arthritis mice. PD microbiota colonized the gut, reshaped communities, weakened epithelial tight junctions, and provoked systemic ...
