Study of the persistence and dynamics of recombinant mCherry-producing Yarrowia lipolytica strains in the mouse intestine using fluorescence imaging. [PDF]

open access: yesMicrob Biotechnol, 2023
Yarrowia lipolytica is a dimorphic oleaginous non‐conventional yeast widely used as a powerful host for expressing heterologous proteins. To study its potential for oral delivery of recombinant therapeutic proteins in mammals, we engineered two Y. lipolytica strains to produce the model fluorescent protein mCherry.

Single Cold Atmospheric Plasma Therapy May Improve the Treatment Outcome of Canine Otitis Externa With Secondary Infection. [PDF]

open access: yesVet Dermatol
Background: Otitis externa with secondary bacterial or yeast infection is a common problem in small animal practice. Cold physical plasma (CPP) has been reported to have antimicrobial activity in vitro. Results: Ears treated additionally with CPP showed lower otic scores after 21 days compared to nontreated ears, although this difference was not ...

Ethylated analogue of Zingerone: A new and eco‐respectful preservative in cosmetics

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, Volume 45, Issue 2, Page 187-197, April 2023., 2023
Abstract Objective This article describes the eco‐design of a new preservative in cosmetics based on bio‐inspiration of natural extracts from traditional medicines. In order to reach the multiple specification targets, various structures have been synthesized and evaluated to select the one demonstrating broad antimicrobial spectrum with favorable ...

Evaluation of hypochlorous acid as an ear flush in dogs with chronic otitis externa

open access: yesVeterinary Dermatology, Volume 34, Issue 2, Page 134-141, April 2023., 2023
Abstract Background Chronic otitis externa (OE) in dogs frequently requires anaesthetised ear flushing. Objectives To evaluate hypochlorous acid as an ear flushing and antimicrobial agent in dogs with chronic OE. Animals Twenty dogs with chronic OE caused by the same organisms bilaterally.

Enhanced flavour profiles through radicicol induced genomic variation in the lager yeasts, Saccharomyces pastorianus

open access: yesYeast, Volume 39, Issue 10, Page 535-547, October 2022., 2022
In this paper, the authors describe the generation of new strains of the polyploid yeasts, Saccharomyces pastorianus, through stress‐induced changes in chromosome copy number and composition, coupled with selection for increased production of higher alcohols and esters that impart enhanced flavour profiles on lager beers produced through fermentation ...

Organic matter removal for continuous flow isotope ratio mass spectrometry analysis of carbon and oxygen isotope compositions of calcite or dolomite in organic‐rich samples

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography: Methods, Volume 19, Issue 8, Page 523-539, August 2021., 2021
Abstract δ13C and δ18O values of carbonate in organic‐rich samples such as soils, biofilms, and lake sediments have been scarcely used so far in paleo‐environmental, biomineralization, or diagenetic studies because organic matter in high proportions is suspected to alter carbonate isotope analysis.

Organic production of vinegar from mango and papaya

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 9, Issue 1, Page 190-196, January 2021., 2021
The production of vinegar from mango and papaya was realized through the process of directed alcoholic and acetic fermentation. The concentration of acetic acid is the highest of the organic acids for the four vinegars ranging from 37.46 ± 4.6 g/L to 55.85 ± 9.94 g/L.
