Oxygenated Lignans from the Fruits of Schisandra arisanensis

open access: yes, 2016
An acetone extract of the fruits of the Taiwanese medicinal plant Schisandra arisanensis has yielded 11 new oxygenated lignans. Four of these, named arisantetralones A−D (1−4), possess the aryltetralone skeleton, while the other seven, named ...

The lignan macromolecule from flaxseed : structure and bioconversion of lignans

open access: yes, 2008
Flaxseeds are known already for a long time for their positive health effects. The high content of dietary fiber, the advantageous fatty acid composition and the lignans are held responsible for this. Lignans are compounds, which have a similar structure

Lactate metabolism and lactylation in female reproductive diseases: From metabolic rewiring to biomarkers and translational therapeutics

open access: yesClinical and Translational Medicine, Volume 16, Issue 6, June 2026.
1. Lactate‐derived histone lactylation links glycolytic reprogramming to epigenetic regulation in female reproductive diseases. 2. In endometriosis, lactylation may promote inflammatory remodelling, immune dysregulation and ferroptosis resistance. 3. In PCOS, lactylation connects metabolic disturbance to granulosa‐cell dysfunction and hyperandrogenism.

Chemical Composition, Amino Acids, Phenolic Profiles and Bioavailability of Minerals in Livingstone Potato (Plectranthus esculentus) as Affected by Different Processing Techniques

open access: yesFood Chemistry International, Volume 2, Issue 2, Page 186-199, June 2026.
Boiling retained the nutrients and polyphenol compounds in Plectranthus esculentus tubers better than frying or roasting. A bioavailability study showed that the phytates and oxalates in the tuber may not affect the bioavailabilities of calcium, zinc, or iron in Plectranthus esculentus tubers when eaten.
