Journal of Infection and Chemotherapy, 2009
We report a 54-year-old male patient with an infection caused by linezolid-resistant methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), isolated after long-term, repeated use of linezolid. Five MRSA strains isolated from our patient were preserved and submitted to bacteriological analysis.

LINEZOLID-RESISTANT STAPHYLOCOCCUS AUREUS IN TWO PEDIATRIC PATIENTS RECEIVING LOW-DOSE LINEZOLID THERAPY

Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal, 2006
We report 2 sisters with hyper-IgE syndrome treated with daily suppressive dosages of linezolid (LZD) who developed LZD-resistant Staphylococcus aureus carrying the G2576T mutation in the 23S rRNA gene. Molecular typing suggested transmission of the resistant strain from one sister to the other. LZD-susceptible S. aureus was isolated 2 months after LZD

Prolonged linezolid use is associated with the development of linezolid-resistant Enterococcus faecium

Diagnostic Microbiology and Infectious Disease, 2018
We assessed risk factors for and outcomes of linezolid-resistant vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium (LRVREF) bacteremia over 7 years. Thirty-four LRVREF cases were matched to 68 linezolid-susceptible VREF controls. The odds of bacteremia with LRVREF increased by 7% for each additional day of prior linezolid exposure.
