Resolution of Adipose Tissue Inflammation

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2010
The presence of the so-called “low-grade” inflammatory state is recognized as a critical event in adipose tissue dysfunction in obesity. This chronic “low-grade” inflammation in white adipose tissue is powerfully augmented through the infiltration of ...

Concentrations of Cysteinyl Leukotrienes in Various Biological Fluids of Children with Bronchial Asthma, Atopic Dermatitis and Food Protein Induced Enterocolitis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Clinical manifestation of food allergy is characterized by polymorphic cutaneous, respiratory and gastrointestinal syndromes. Leukotrienes occupy a key place in the pathogenesis of a wide range of inflammatory diseases, including bronchial asthma ...

Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

Plasma total antioxidant capacity and peroxidation biomarkers in psoriasis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Systemic biomarkers of oxidative stress can be relevant for assessment of psoriasis severity, for prediction of the outcome of therapy and of the development of comorbidities.

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Correlation of Lipopolysaccharide Endotoxin Level in Cotton Dust with the Increase of TNFα Level and the Decline of Lung Function in Cotton Spinning Factory Workers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) endotoxin contained in cotton dust may cause airway inflammation and decline of lung function when inhaled, which eventually leads to respiratory symptoms.

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Vesicular trafficking and signaling for cytokine and chemokine secretion in mast cells

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2014
Upon activation mast cells (MC) secrete numerous inflammatory compounds stored in their cytoplasmic secretory granules (SG) by a process called anaphylactic degranulation, which is responsible for type I hypersensitivity responses.
