Synergistic Activation of Immunogenic Cell Death and the cGAS–STING Pathway by Engineered Zinc/Manganese‐Based Metal–Organic Framework Nanoplatforms for Colon Cancer Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A zinc/manganese (Zn/Mn)‐based metal‐organic framework (MOF) loaded with the STING agonist c‐di‐AMP diammonium (denoted AMP@Zn/Mn‐MOF) was developed to synergistically activate the cGAS‐STING pathway and induce immunogenic cell death. This nanoplatform reprograms the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment, significantly enhancing anti‐PD‐L1 ...

Bacterial Outer Membrane Vesicles in Potentiating Cancer Vaccines: Progress and Prospects

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Bacterial outer membrane vesicles (OMVs) have emerged as versatile platforms for cancer vaccine development owing to their intrinsic immunostimulatory properties and high engineering flexibility. This review summarizes OMV biology, immune mechanisms, and engineering strategies that enhance vaccine efficacy, discusses key translational challenges, and ...

Piezo1 Channel Mediates Mechanically Programmable Drug Delivery to Potentiate Intravesical Chemotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study utilizes programmable mechanical pressure as a therapeutic enhancer to establish a mechano‐chemotherapy strategy. Controlled pressure activates the mechanosensitive ion channel Piezo1 in bladder cancer, triggering a calcium ion cascade that transiently and reversibly amplifies membrane permeability to chemotherapeutics.

Tumor‐Induced Splenic Remodeling: Mechanisms of Systemic Immunosuppression and Emerging Therapeutic Opportunities

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Despite the transformative impact of cancer immunotherapies such as immune checkpoint blockade, durable clinical responses remain limited. Increasing evidence indicates that antitumor immunity is governed not only by the tumor microenvironment, but also by systemic immune regulation mediated by peripheral immune organs. Among these, the spleen

Short chain ceramides disrupt immunoreceptor signaling by inhibiting segregation of Lo from Ld Plasma membrane components

open access: yesBiology Open, 2018
Lipid phase heterogeneity in plasma membranes is thought to play a key role in targeting cellular signaling, but efforts to test lipid raft and related hypotheses are limited by the spatially dynamic nature of these phase-based structures in cells and by

A Genomic Catalog of Migratory Microbiomes from Wild Birds across China's Habitats

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Migratory birds play an important role in the spread of antimicrobial resistance (AMR); however, gaps in surveillance data from vital regions along migratory flyways across China limit the detection of emergent threats. Here, we assembled 340 metagenomes from 52 bird species covering 11 provincial administrative districts in China, presenting ...

Effects of Combining Shockwaves or Radiofrequency with Aerobic Exercise on Subcutaneous Adipose Tissue and Lipid Mobilization: A Randomized Controlled Trial

open access: yesObesities
Reducing abdominal subcutaneous fat is a common concern among women, with evidence suggesting that combining aerobic exercise with external shock waves or radiofrequency may enhance fat reduction. This study aimed to assess the effects of six sessions of

Clinical Insights From a Case of Sifrim‐Hitz‐Weiss Syndrome With a CHD4 Variant: Expanding the Phenotypic Spectrum and Its Response to Growth Hormone Therapy

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT To enhance clinicians' understanding of Sifrim‐Hitz‐Weiss syndrome (SIHIWES), this study investigated the clinical phenotypes, genetic characteristics, and response to growth hormone therapy in a patient. A case of a patient with global developmental delay and distinctive facial features is presented.

Detection of Lipid-Rich Prostate Circulating Tumour Cells with Coherent Anti-Stokes Raman Scattering Microscopy

open access: yesBMC Cancer, 2012
Background Circulating tumour cells (CTC) are an important indicator of metastasis and associated with a poor prognosis. Detection sensitivity and specificity of CTC in the peripheral blood of metastatic cancer patient remain a technical challenge ...
