Human lipocalin-2 variants : therapeutic evaluations

open access: yes
Lipocalin-2 is a proinflammatory protein that undergoes post-translational modification by polyamination and has unique structure-function dynamics. The presence of different lipocalin-2 variants exhibits varied expression patterns. In the present study,

Lipocalin 2 produces insulin resistance and can be upregulated by glucocorticoids in human adipose tissue

open access: yes, 2016
The adipokine lipocalin 2 is linked to obesity and metabolic disorders. However, its role in human adipose tissue glucose and lipid metabolism is not explored.

Upregulation of lipocalin-2 in human papillomavirus-positive keratinocytes and cutaneous squamous cell carcinomas

open access: yes, 2010
It has been demonstrated previously that E7 oncogene expression of human papillomavirus (HPV) type 8 in keratinocytes induces cell invasion and accelerated differentiation. Looking for cellular genes deregulated by HPV-8 E7, lipocalin-2 was identified as

Transcriptomic and proteomic signatures underlying nymphal adaptation and foam production in the forage pest Mahanarva spectabilis

open access: yesInsect Molecular Biology, Volume 35, Issue 5, Page 556-575, October 2026.
RNA‐seq and Batelli gland proteomics of fifth‐instar Mahanarva spectabilis nymphs reveal transcripts and proteins associated with xylem feeding, foam production and environmental interaction. Functional annotation identified genes involved in osmoregulation, detoxification, chemosensation and stress responses, while proteomic analysis confirmed ...

Lipocalin-2 deficiency protects hearts against ischemia/reperfusion injury

open access: yes, 2010
Lipocalin-2 is a pro-inflammatory adipokine causally involved in the development of obesity-associated metabolic and vascular diseases. Clinical evidences suggest that there are close associations between circulating levels of lipocalin-2 and cardiac ...

Lipocalin 2 is required for pulmonary host defense against Klebsiella infection

open access: yes, 2009
Antimicrobial proteins comprise a significant component of the acute innate immune response to infection. They are induced by pattern recognition receptors as well as by cytokines of the innate and adaptive immune pathways and play important roles in ...

Special status of iron transfer proteins in the serum of breast cancer patients

open access: yesDiscover Oncology
Cancer cells have a greater requirement for iron because of their continuous and rapid proliferation. To do that, iron homeostasis is altered in cancer cells to meet this excessive demand.

Lipocalin-2 derived from adipose tissue mediates aldosterone-induced renal injury

open access: yes, 2018
Lipocalin-2 is not only a sensitive biomarker but also contributes to the pathogenesis of renal injuries. The present study demonstrates that adipose tissue-derived lipocalin-2 plays a critical role in causing both chronic and acute renal injuries.

Cellular and Humoral Immune Responses to Noncanonical Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli Virulence Factors

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Immunology, Volume 56, Issue 9, September 2026.
Circulating antigen‐reactive CD4+ T cells and antibody responses in serum and lavage against the ETEC noncanonical virulence factors EatA, EtpA, and YghJ were found in volunteers experimentally infected with ETEC. This documents the immunogenicity of these antigens and supports their further evaluation as ETEC vaccine candidates.
