Adaptation of the invasive pest Drosophila suzukii to a specialized nutritional niche
Insect Science, EarlyView.Unlike most Drosophila larvae that feed on spoiled food, Drosophila suzukii larvae thrive on ripening fruits and consequently face a low‐protein, high‐carbohydrate nutritional challenge. Allergy, EarlyView.The spectrum of allergic sensitization in mothers and their offspring was characterized at ages 1–5 years at an extract‐ and molecular level in a North American birth cohort. Fel d 1 was the primary sensitizer in mothers, followed by Phl p 1. Perennial allergen sensitization (Der f 1, Der p 1) was rare at age one but rose sharply by age five.
