Gastrointestinal lipolysis of lipid-based excipients intended for the oral drug delivery of poorly water-soluble drugs

open access: yesOléagineux, Corps gras, Lipides, 2010
Labrasol® and Gelucire® 44/14 are lipid-based excipients used for the oral drug delivery of poorly water-soluble drugs. These macrogolglycerides are composed of acylglycerols and PEG esters, potential substrates of digestive lipases.

Hormone-stimulated lipolysis in isolated fat cells from “young” and “old” rats

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1973
The biphasic nature of the lipolytic dose-response curve of epinephrine in fat cells from “young” rats (40–45 days) was confirmed. The first phase (Lipolysis I) occurred at concentrations of from 10–7 m to 3 × 10–6 m.

Shared genetic loci for body fat storage and adipocyte lipolysis in humans

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
Total body fat and central fat distribution are heritable traits and well-established predictors of adverse metabolic outcomes. Lipolysis is the process responsible for the hydrolysis of triacylglycerols stored in adipocytes.

Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.

Perilipin‐2‐Anchored Lipid Droplet‐Targeting Phototheranostics

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
This study reports two NIR theranostic dyes, C‐BDP‐OH and C‐BDP‐OMe. C‐BDP‐OMe targets lipid droplets via a dual‐anchoring mechanism with PLIN2, enabling wash‐free tumor imaging. With 62.6% photothermal conversion efficiency, it achieves tumor ablation by downregulating PLIN2, disrupting LD‐mitochondria crosstalk, and triggering apoptosis and ...

Success Rate of Buccal Fat Pad Removal in Cases of Previous Injection Lipolysis of the Cheeks: A Comparative Analysis

open access: yesPlastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Global Open, 2023
Background:. Although buccal fat pad removal for facial slimming has a high success rate, fibrosis in patients with a history of cheek injection lipolysis may pose challenges.

Erythropoietin modulates hepatic inflammation, glucose homeostasis, and soluble epoxide hydrolase and epoxides in high‐fat diet‐induced obese mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Erythropoietin administration suppresses hepatic soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) expression, leading to increased CYP‐derived epoxides. This is associated with a shift in hepatic macrophage polarization characterized by reduced M1 markers and increased M2 markers, along with reduced hepatic inflammation, suppressed hepatic lipogenesis, and attenuated ...

Dissection of surface area-dependent lipolysis at a single organelle level

open access: yesCell Reports
Summary: Lipid droplets are dynamic organelles whose size and number signify their role in energy. However, owing to cellular heterogeneity and technological limitations, the relationship between the lipolytic ability and lipid droplet morphology is ...

Cytokine-Mediated STAT3 Transcription Supports ATGL/CGI-58-Dependent Adipocyte Lipolysis in Cancer Cachexia

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2022
Adipose tissue inflammation is observed in multiple metabolically-altered states including cancer-associated cachexia and obesity. Although cachexia is a syndrome of adipose loss and obesity is a disease of adipose excess, both pathologies demonstrate ...

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.
