Synthesis of 9-O-arylated berberines via copper-catalyzed CAr–O coupling reactions

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2019
Berberine is a widely used antimicrobial agent in clinic. However, a high dosage is often required due to its low lipophilicity and bioavailability. The current study explores the structural modifications of berberines with potentially lipophilic aryl ...

The influence of aliphatic fluorination on lipophilicity

open access: yes, 2019
Lipophilicity is known to influence a wide range of ADMET (absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion and toxicity) properties and is widely regarded as one of the most important parameters within drug discovery programs.

Biolipid Film‐Fused Electrochemiluminescence for Multipurpose In Situ Bioassays

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An ECL‐emissive, membrane‐interactive scaffold was fabricated, and facilely fused with natural and non‐native phospholipids into multifactorial mimicries of cytomembranes and vesicles for in vitro representative membrane‐process probing. Such a biointerface‐based, state‐sensitive ECL paradigm not only pinpointed proximal phenomena, including channeling

Antibacterial and Herbicidal Activity of Ring-Substituted 2-Hydroxynaphthalene-1-carboxanilides

open access: yesMolecules, 2013
In this study, a series of twenty-two ring-substituted 2-hydroxynaphthalene-1‑carboxanilides were prepared and characterized. Primary in vitro screening of the synthesized compounds was performed against Staphylococcus aureus, three methicillin-resistant

Spontaneous Non‐Catalyzed Molecular Reactions and Interactions in the Human Body: Biomedical Implications

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The human body functions as a natural reactor for a vast network of chemical and biological reactions and physical interactions among small molecules, proteins, cells, and numerous other components. These reactions/interactions are essential for maintaining normal physiological functions.

Chromatographic and computational lipophilicity assessment of novel antibiofilm agents

open access: yes, 2020
In this study, lipophilicity of five newly designed molecules with antibiofilm properties was estimated for the first time. The overall goal of lipophilicity evaluation in lead generation phase is to decrease the traditionally high attrition rates for ...

ROS‐Responsive Nanobubbles for Dual‐Enhanced Ultrasound and Magnetic Resonance Imaging of Tumor Oxidative Stress

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We report the development of biotinylated PEGylated bilirubin‐coated perfluoropentane (bt‐PEG‐BR@PFP) nanobubbles, a novel class of ROS‐activatable and dual‐modality contrast agents that amplify both ultrasound (US) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) signals in response to elevated ROS.
