Secondary structure in very low density and intermediate density lipoproteins of human serum.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1979
We have studies the secondary structures of the protein moieties of very low density lipoproteins (VLDL) and intermediate density lipoproteins (IDL) of human serum by circular dichroism (CD).

Visibly Linear Dynamic Logic [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
We introduce Visibly Linear Dynamic Logic (VLDL), which extends Linear Temporal Logic (LTL) by temporal operators that are guarded by visibly pushdown languages over finite words. In VLDL one can, e.g., express that a function resets a variable to its original value after its execution, even in the presence of an unbounded number of intermediate ...

Bifurcation analysis of a free boundary model of plaque formation associated with the cholesterol ratio [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
The low-density lipoprotein (LDL)/high-density lipoprotein (HDL)-cholesterol ratio has been shown a high correlation with the cardiovascular risk assessment. Is it possible to quantify the correlation mathematically? In this paper, we develop a bifurcation analysis for a mathematical model of the plaque formation with a free boundary in the early stage

METABOLISM OF VERY LOW DENSITY LIPOPROTEIN (VLDL) BY HUMAN PLACENTA IN VITRO [PDF]

open access: yesPediatric Research, 1984
We investigated the potential role of maternal VLDL as a source of fatty acids (FA) for use by the fetus using isolated perfused human placenta. Recirculating fetal and maternal perfusions of 10 cm diameter portions of 5 term placentas were used to determine the fate of 3H-(FA)triolein (TG) incorporated into human VLDL.

Nutraceutical Blends Promote Weight Loss, Inflammation Reduction, and Better Sleep: The Role of Faecalibacterium prausnitzii in Overweight Adults–A Double‐Blind Trial

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, EarlyView.
This study explored how a 90‐day nutraceutical blend with prebiotics, minerals, and silymarin affects the gut‐brain axis in overweight adults. Results showed improved gut microbiota, reduced inflammation, and better sleep, mood, and quality of life, suggesting a strong link between gut health and mental well‐being.

Effect of fasting on the composition of plasma lipoproteins in cholesterol-fed diabetic rabbits.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1985
Cholesterol-fat feeding is associated with unusual alterations in the composition of plasma lipoproteins in alloxan-diabetic rabbits. In the present study plasma lipoprotein lipid and apoprotein composition was studied before and after 48 hr of fasting ...

A Dynamical Model of Lipoprotein Metabolism [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2006
We present a dynamical model of lipoprotein metabolism derived by combining a cascading process in the blood stream and cellular level regulatory dynamics. We analyse the existence and stability of equilibria and show that this low-dimensional, nonlinear model exhibits bistability between a low and a high cholesterol state.

Oxysterols in Vascular Cells and Role in Atherosclerosis [PDF]

open access: yesImplication of Oxysterols and Phytosterols in Aging and Human Diseases, 1440, Springer International Publishing, pp.213-229, 2024, Advances in Experimental Medicine and Biology
Atherosclerosis is a major cardiovascular complication of diseases associated with elevated oxidative stress such as type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome. In these situations, low density lipoproteins (LDL) undergo oxidation. Oxidized LDL display proatherogenic activities through multiple and complex mechanisms which lead to dysfunctions of vascular ...

Selective retention of VLDL, IDL, and LDL in the arterial intima of genetically hyperlipidemic rabbits in vivo. Molecular size as a determinant of fractional loss from the intima-inner media.

open access: yesArteriosclerosis, Thrombosis and Vascular Biology, 1995
To explore possible mechanisms whereby the triglyceride-rich lipoproteins IDL and VLDL may promote atherosclerosis, fractional loss of these lipoproteins from the intima-inner media was measured in vivo in genetically hyperlipidemic rabbits of the St ...

Yerba Mate (Ilex paraguariensis St. Hill.) Tea May Have Cardiometabolic Beneficial Effects in Healthy and At‐Risk Subjects: A Randomized, Controlled, Blind, Crossover Trial in Nonhabitual Consumers

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, EarlyView.
Yerba mate intake shows cardiometabolic beneficial effects decreasing blood pressure, blood lipids, inflammatory biomarkers and body fat in healthy and hypercholesterolemic non‐habitual consumers. ABSTRACT Yerba mate has been reported to have antihypertensive, hypocholesterolemic, antidiabetic, or antiobesity properties.
