Engineered Living Systems With Self‐Organizing Neural Networks: From Anatomy to Behavior and Gene Expression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Ectodermal tissue excised from Xenopus embryos self‐organizes into a three‐dimensional mucociliary organoid. Here, we generate a neural variant, termed neurobot, by implanting neural precursor cells. Neurobots develop mature neurons, adopt distinct morphologies, exhibit more complex motility, and respond differentially to neuroactive compounds. Imaging

Bioprinting of Microtissues Within Mechanically Tunable Support Baths to Engineer Anisotropic Musculoskeletal Tissues

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents a novel 4D bioprinting platform for engineering biomimetic musculoskeletal grafts. By tuning the mechanical properties of support baths, we enhance tissue fusion, collagen alignment, and cell differentiation. Using this strategy, we successfully fabricate scaled‐up, anisotropic tissues such as meniscus, articular cartilage, and ...

Calcium Shock Enables Efficient and Programmable Particle Delivery for Genome Editing Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Classical transfection and transduction are inefficient, particularly with confluent cells and organoids, and lack cell type‐specific programmability. This study presents calcium shock (CaSh), a method that dramatically improves particle delivery into single cells, colonies, and organoids.

Prediction for oxaliplatin‐induced liver injury using patient‐derived liver organoids

open access: yesCancer Medicine
AbstractBackgroundLiver injury associated with oxaliplatin (L‐OHP)‐based chemotherapy can significantly impact the treatment outcomes of patients with colorectal cancer liver metastases, especially when combined with surgery. To date, no definitive biomarker that can predict the risk of liver injury has been identified.

A Biomarker‐Driven Ovary–Endometrium Organ‐on‐a‐Chip Mimicking 3D Multicellular Complexity and Menstrual Cyclicity for Predicting Reproductive Toxicity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We present a dual‐organ, biomarker‐integrated ovaryendometrium organ‐on‐a‐chip that recapitulates 3D tissue complexity, menstrual cycle dynamics, and hormonal crosstalk. This platform enables real‐time, cell‐typespecific fluorescent readouts of reproductive toxicity using ANGPTL4 and SERPINB2 as early‐response reporters.

Establishment and long-term expansion of adult hepatobiliary organoids co-cultured with liver endothelial cells

open access: yesHeliyon
The liver has a unique ability to regenerate in response to injury or disease with hepatocytes and biliary epithelial cells (BECs) driving the regenerative response.
