- JAPAN/USA: (THE APPARENT) MIRACLE OF CONVERGENCE [PDF]
With reference to the Baumol/de Long controversy over the importance of the sample selection when verifying the convergence hypothesis, the paper concludes that the convergence results are conditioned by the joint consideration of the United States and ...

Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.

Time‐Dependent Oxidation and Scale Evolution of a Wrought Co/Ni‐Based Superalloy
This study shows how a new wrought Co/Ni‐based superalloy resists oxidation at 800 ∘$^\circ$C. The oxide scale changes from rough, fast‐growing spinel to a dense, protective chromia–alumina layer. Atom probe analysis reveals tiny refractory‐rich bubbles at the interface that mark the transition to long‐term, diffusion‐controlled protection ...

Local Convergence Study for an Iterative Scheme with a High Order of Convergence
In this paper, we address a key issue in Numerical Functional Analysis: to perform the local convergence analysis of a fourth order of convergence iterative method in Banach spaces, examining conditions on the operator and its derivatives near the solution to ensure convergence.

Local Compactness in Fuzzy Convergence Spaces
The authors introduce and investigate two notions of locally compact fuzzy convergence spaces, continuing \textit{G. Jäger}'s paper on relative compactness [Fuzzy Sets Syst. 101, No. 1, 159-165 (1999; Zbl 0930.54008)]. Among others they show that the categories of these spaces are coreflective subcategories of the category of fuzzy convergence spaces.

Do not let thermal drift and instrument artifacts deceive high‐temperature nanoindentation results. We compare classical Oliver–Pharr and automatic image recognition analyses across steels and a Ni alloy to quantify these effects. Accounting for artifacts reveals systematic softening with temperature, while Cr and Ni additions boost resistance ...

Using regression to improve local convergence
Traditionally Evolutionary Algorithms (EAs) choose candidate solutions based on their individual fitnesses, usually without directly looking for patterns in the fitness landscape discovered. These patterns often contain useful information that could be used to guide the EA to the optimum. While an EA is able to quickly locate the general area of a peak,

Knowledge‐based atomistic workflows are presented for mechanical and thermodynamic properties. By coupling modular simulations with ontology‐aligned metadata and provenance, Fe case studies on elastic behavior, defects, thermal properties, and Hall–Petch strengthening reveal how FAIR, queryable, and reusable simulation data can be generated. Mechanical

Coarse‐grained (left) and atomistic (right) models of the shape memory polymer ESTANE ETE 75DT3 are shown schematically. The two representations bridge molecular detail and mesoscopic description. Both models capture shape memory behavior, linking segmental mobility and conformational relaxation of anisotropic chains to macroscopic recovery, and ...
