Outcomes of Liver Transplant Versus Partial Hepatectomy for Perihilar Cholangiocarcinoma Patients Requiring Arterial Reconstruction

open access: yesLiver International, Volume 46, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Liver resection (LR) and orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT) are therapeutic options for locally advanced perihilar cholangiocarcinoma (pCCA) requiring hepatic artery reconstruction (HAR). This study aimed to compare short‐ and long‐term outcomes of LR and OLT. Outcomes were major vascular complications, 90‐day mortality,

Efficacy of a structured rehabilitation program for patients with terminal cancer: A multicenter randomized controlled trial

open access: yesCancer, Volume 132, Issue 12, 15 June 2026.
Abstract Background Maintaining activities of daily living is of great importance for patients who have cancer, and dependency is associated with psychological distress. However, evidence for rehabilitation remains scarce in this setting. The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of a structured rehabilitation program for maintaining ...

Efficacy and immunogenic effects of Tumor Treating Fields (TTFields) in preclinical models of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, with and without gemcitabine/nab‐paclitaxel

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 158, Issue 12, Page 3091-3100, 15 June 2026.
What's new? Adaptive immune responses are typically limited in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, resulting in minimal efficacy of immune checkpoint inhibitors. Tumor Treating Fields (TTFields) therapy, which uses low‐intensity intermediate‐frequency electric fields to disrupt cancer cell processes, has been approved for certain cancers.

Ultrasmall Platinum Nanoparticles for Radiation‐Enhanced Cancer Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 45, 5 June 2026.
This work proposes a nanomedicine‐based strategy to enhance X‐ray radiotherapy for cancer treatment. Ultrasmall Pt‐NPs exhibit catalase‐like activity that may contribute to modulation of the tumor microenvironment and amplify interactions between radiation and biological matter, leading to increased DNA damage.
