An Ultra‐Robust Memristor Based on Vertically Aligned Nanocomposite with Highly Defective Vertical Channels for Neuromorphic Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An ultra‐robust memristor based on SrTiO3‐CeO2 (S‐C) vertically aligned nanocomposite (VAN) achieving exceptional endurance of 1012 switching cycles via interface engineering. Artificial neural networks (ANNs) integrated with S‐C VAN memristors exhibit high training accuracy across multiple datasets.

Ammonia-mediated LTP inhibition: Effects of NMDA receptor antagonists and l-carnitine

open access: yesNeurobiology of Disease, 2005
Because hyperammonemia is thought to contribute to the pathogenesis of hepatic encephalopathy, we examined the effects of ammonia on ATP levels, neuronal morphology, and synaptic function in rat hippocampal slices.

Dissecting the Components of Long-Term Potentiation [PDF]

open access: yesThe Neuroscientist, 2008
The formation of memories relies in part on plastic changes at synapses between neurons. Although the mechanisms of synaptic plasticity have been studied extensively over several decades, many aspects of this process remain controversial. The cellular locus of expression of long-term potentiation (LTP), a major form of synaptic plasticity, is one of ...

Enhanced Performance and In Situ TEM Investigation in High Entropy Alloy Electrode Based Memristors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study utilizes in situ TEM, EDS, EELS, and APT to reveal switching in HEA/ZnO/Nb:STO RRAM. High diffusivity of Mn lowers the SET voltage to 1.5 V. Cr stabilizes the oxygen layer, while Fe, Co, and Ni stabilize the electrode. Based on these observations, the device achieves 30 ns switching, a 10⁷ memory window, and excellent endurance, being ...

Long-term potentiation in an innexin-based electrical synapse

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2018
Electrical synapses are formed by two unrelated gap junction protein families, the primordial innexins (invertebrates) or the connexins (vertebrates). Although molecularly different, innexin- and connexin-based electrical synapses are strikingly similar ...

Stress time-dependently influences the acquisition and retrieval of unrelated information by producing a memory of its own

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2015
Stress induces several temporally-guided waves of psychobiological responses that differentially influence learning and memory. One way to understand how the temporal dynamics of stress influence these cognitive processes is to consider stress, itself ...

Dynamic Control of Synaptic Plasticity by Competing Ferroelectric and Trap‐Assisted Switching in IGZO Transistors with Al2O3/HfO2 Dielectrics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A frequency‐tunable ferroelectric synaptic transistor based on a buried‐gate InGaZnO channel and Al2O3/HfO2 dielectric stack exhibits linear and reversible weight updates using single‐polarity pulses. By switching between ferroelectric and trap‐assisted modes depending on input frequency, the device simplifies neuromorphic circuit design and achieves ...

Multicolor Optoelectronic Synapse Enabled by Photon‐Modulated Remote Doping in Solution‐Processed Van Der Waals Heterostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Multicolor optoelectronic synapses are realized by vertically integrating solution‐processed MoS2 thin‐film and SWCNT. The electronically disconnected but interactive MoS2 enables photon‐modulated remote doping, producing a bi‐directional photoresponse.

Universal Neuromorphic Element: NbOx Memristor with Co‐Existing Volatile, Non‐Volatile, and Threshold Switching

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A W/NbOx/Pt memristor demonstrates the coexistence of volatile, non‐volatile, and threshold switching characteristics. Volatile switching serves as a reservoir computing layer, providing dynamic short‐term processing. Non‐volatile switching, stabilized through ISPVA, improves reliable long‐term readout. Threshold switching operates as a leaky integrate
