GLOBULAR DOMAIN STRUCTURE AND FUNCTION OF RESTRICTION-LIKE-ENDONUCLEASE BEARING LONG INTERSPERSED NUCLEOTIDE ELEMENTS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Long Interspersed Nucleotide Elements (LINEs) are a major group of eukaryotic transposable elements that have profoundly influenced and sculpted eukaryotic genome structure and function.

Convergence in LINE-1 nucleotide variations can benefit redundantly forming triplexes with lncRNA in mammalian X-chromosome inactivation

open access: yesMobile DNA, 2019
Background Associations between X-inactive transcript (Xist)–long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) and chromatin are critical intermolecular interactions in the X-chromosome inactivation (XCI) process. Despite high-resolution analyses of the Xist RNA-binding sites,

Characterization of SR3 reveals abundance of non-LTR retrotransposons of the RTE clade in the genome of the human blood fluke, Schistosoma mansoni

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2005
Background It is becoming apparent that perhaps as much as half of the genome of the human blood fluke Schistosoma mansoni is constituted of mobile genetic element-related sequences.

Development of a temperature-switch PCR-based SNP typing method for Mycobacterium ulcerans [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Mycobacterium ulcerans (M. ulcerans), the causative agent of the devastating skin disease Buruli ulcer (BU), is characterized by an extremely low level of genetic diversity.

A twist in the tail : SHAPE mapping of long-range interactions and structural rearrangements of RNA elements involved in HCV replication [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The RNA structure and long-range interactions of the SL9266 cis-acting replication element located within the NS5B coding region of hepatitis C virus (HCV) were determined using selective 2′-hydroxyl acylation analysed by primer extension.

Mediterranean Diet and Particulate Matter Exposure Are Associated With LINE-1 Methylation: Results From a Cross-Sectional Study in Women

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2018
Emerging evidence suggests that air pollution increases the risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and metabolic disorders, adding to the global burden of disease attributable to lifestyle and behavioral factors.

Alu and LINE-1 hypomethylation is associated with HER2 enriched subtype of breast cancer.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
The changes in DNA methylation status in cancer cells are characterized by hypermethylation of promoter CpG islands and diffuse genomic hypomethylation.

The Landscape of Long Non‐Coding RNAs Provides Insights Into the Domestication and Improvement of Pear Fruit

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that long non‐coding RNAs represent important regulatory components underlying pear domestication and improvement. Integrative multi‐omics analyses identify selected lncRNAs associated with fruit traits, while functional validation uncovers a lignin‐related lncRNA, lncRNA‐pys, that promotes lignin accumulation.

Gut Health in Ostriches (Struthio camelus): Insights Into Intestinal Structure, Functions, Microbiome, and Improvement Strategies

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Our paper systematically reviews the intestinal structure, function, and microbiota of ostriches, along with strategies for improving their gut health. We analyze how these factors collectively influence intestinal homeostasis and ostrich welfare, emphasizing probiotics as a promising intervention to enhance gut health, boost population well‐being, and
