Competing Endogenous RNA Networks Reveal Long Non-coding RNAs as Potential Prognostic Biomarkers in Gastric Cancer: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

open access: yesAdvanced Biomedical Research
Background: Gastric cancer (GC) represents a global healthcare challenge. Recently, many competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) network studies have elucidated critical long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) as potential prognostic biomarkers in GC.

The roles of long noncoding RNAs in the regulation of OCT4 expression

open access: yesStem Cell Research & Therapy, 2022
OCT4 is a major transcription factor that maintains the pluripotency of stem cells, including embryonic stem cells, induced pluripotent stem cells and cancer stem cells. An increasing number of long noncoding RNAs have been reported to participate in the

Long noncoding RNAs in viral infections

open access: yes, 2016
Viral infections induce strong modifications in the cell transcriptome. Among the RNAs whose expression is altered by infection are long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs). LncRNAs are transcripts with potential to function as RNA molecules.

Transcriptional network modulated by the prognostic signature transcription factors and their long noncoding RNA partners in primary prostate cancer

open access: yesEBioMedicine, 2021
Background: Transcriptional regulators are seminal players in the onset and progression of prostate cancer. However, clarification of their underlying regulatory circuits and mechanisms demands considerable effort.

Autophagy and mitophagy in pancreatic β‐cell homeostasis and their involvement in diabetes pathophysiology

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review focuses on the role of autophagy and mitophagy in maintaining pancreatic β‐cell function and homeostasis. We discuss how genetic defects affecting these pathways contribute to the development of type 1, type 2, monogenic, and gestational diabetes. We further explore their potential as therapeutic targets. Created in BioRender.

MicroRNA-encoding long non-coding RNAs

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2008
Background Recent analysis of the mouse transcriptional data has revealed the existence of ~34,000 messenger-like non-coding RNAs (ml-ncRNAs). Whereas the functional properties of these ml-ncRNAs are beginning to be unravelled, no functional information ...

RNA‐related functions of BRCA2 in transcription, replication, and genome stability

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in homologous recombination, BRCA2 regulates R‐loop homeostasis, DNA–RNA hybrid resolution, RNA polymerase II dynamics, and transcriptional activation. Disruption of any of these functions can contribute to genome instability, inflammatory signaling, and tumorigenesis. BRCA2 is a central tumor suppressor protein best known for its roles

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.
