LINC00467: an oncogenic long noncoding RNA

open access: yesCancer Cell International, 2022
Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been found to play essential roles in the cell proliferation, fission and differentiation, involving various processes in humans.

Global Positioning System: Understanding Long Noncoding RNAs through Subcellular Localization. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The localization of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) within the cell is the primary determinant of their molecular functions. LncRNAs are often thought of as chromatin-restricted regulators of gene transcription and chromatin structure.

Accurate and noninvasive prostate cancer detection using plasma‐derived extracellular vesicle RNA

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Plasma extracellular vesicles were captured with WGA‐conjugated magnetic beads and profiled for RNA biomarkers. A three‐RNA panel (NM_024955, NR_047469, and NR_002564) distinguished prostate cancer from healthy controls and benign prostatic hyperplasia, supporting a simple, noninvasive approach to improve prostate cancer detection.

Long Noncoding RNA: Genome Organization and Mechanism of Action

open access: yes, 2017
For the last four decades, we have known that noncoding RNAs maintain critical housekeeping functions such as transcription, RNA processing, and translation.

Dual native G‐quadruplex folding is associated with chromatin looping at the MYC locus

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
BG4‐detectable G‐quadruplex (G4) in HaCaT and NHEK keratinocytes identified folded and unfolded G4s enriched at promoters/TSSs and active enhancers, whereas unfolded G4s also overlapped weak/poised enhancers. At MYC–PVT1, 3C‐qPCR detected enhancer–promoter looping only when G4s were simultaneously folded at both regulatory elements under native ...

Noncoding RNAs Act as a Chromatin Scaffold of Histone Modification Complexes in Cancer

open access: yes, 2018
Accumulating evidence suggests that several of the genomic mutations reside within the noncoding regions, thereby leading to profound impact on the genesis of various disease conditions, including cancer.

Using fluorescence fluctuation spectroscopy to quantify molecular dynamics within cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Microscopy techniques like fluorescence correlation spectroscopy (FCS) and number and brightness analysis (N&B) allow to quantify concentrations, diffusion rates, and oligomerization of fluorescently labeled molecules in the living cell. In this protocol the principles of how to set up these types of experiments are described including calibration ...

RUNX1-IT1 and AK026392.1 Long Non-Coding RNAs as Early Predictors of Acute Graft-Versus-Host Disease following Allogeneic Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation in Acute Leukemia [PDF]

open access: yesCaspian Journal of Internal Medicine
Background:Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) offers curative potential for hematologic malignancies, yet acute graft-versus-host disease (aGVHD) remains a major complication.

Linc-ing long noncoding RNAs and enhancer function

open access: yes, 2010
Enhancers are distal regulatory sequences that control gene expression in development. Ørom et al. now report in Cell that some long noncoding RNAs have functional properties of enhancers.

Chronobiology of Cancer: How Aging Fuels Oncogenesis at the Molecular Level

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
This graphical abstract illustrates the key biological pathways linking aging with cancer development and progression. In the upper left, cumulative exposure to ultraviolet radiation, toxins, and reactive oxygen species (ROS) causes DNA damage and genomic instability, whereas age‐related decline in repair mechanisms, such as ATM/ATR, BER, and NER ...
