Synaptic tagging and capture : differential role of distinct calcium/calmodulin kinases in protein synthesis-dependent long-term potentiation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Weakly tetanized synapses in area CA1 of the hippocampus that ordinarily display long-term potentiation lasting ~3 h (called early-LTP) will maintain a longer-lasting change in efficacy (late-LTP) if the weak tetanization occurs shortly before or after ...

Learning to Bid Long-Term: Multi-Agent Reinforcement Learning with Long-Term and Sparse Reward in Repeated Auction Games [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
We propose a multi-agent distributed reinforcement learning algorithm that balances between potentially conflicting short-term reward and sparse, delayed long-term reward, and learns with partial information in a dynamic environment. We compare different long-term rewards to incentivize the algorithm to maximize individual payoff and overall social ...

Optimized Periodic Coulomb Potential in Two Dimension [PDF]

open access: yesJ. Comput. Phys. 206, 111 (2005), 2004
The 1/r Coulomb potential is calculated for a two dimensional system with periodic boundary conditions. Using polynomial splines in real space and a summation in reciprocal space we obtain numerically optimized potentials which allow us efficient calculations of any periodic (long-ranged) potential up to high precision.

Effects of intra-dentate gyrus microinjection of myokine irisin on long-term potentiation in male rats [PDF]

open access: yesArquivos de Neuro-Psiquiatria, 2020
Induction of long-term potentiation (LTP) increases the storage capacity of synapses in the hippocampal dentate gyrus (DG). Irisin is a myokine generated from FNDC5 (a gene precursor) during exercise.

Visualization of the distribution of autophosphorylated calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II after tetanic stimulation in the CA1 area of the hippocampus [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
Autophosphorylation of calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II (CaMKII) at threonine-286 produces Ca2+-independent kinase activity and has been proposed to be involved in induction of long-term potentiation by tetanic stimulation in the ...

The Association of Self-reported Physical Activity on Human Sensory Long-term Potentiation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Exercise has been shown to enhance synaptic plasticity, therefore, potentially affecting memory. While the mechanism(s) responsible for this relationship have been explored in animal models, current research suggests that exercise may possess the ability

Purkinje cells translate subjective salience into readiness to act and choice performance

open access: yesCell Reports, 2021
Summary: The brain selectively allocates attention from a continuous stream of sensory input. This process is typically attributed to computations in distinct regions of the forebrain and midbrain.

Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation in psychiatry

open access: yesAnnals of Indian Academy of Neurology, 2011
Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) is a non-invasive and relatively painless tool that has been used to study various cognitive functions as well as to understand the brain-behavior relationship in normal individuals as well as in those ...

Impact of Gamma Secretase Activating Protein on End-Organ Dysfunction in the Aftermath of Pneumonia in a Novel Gamma Secretase Activating Protein Knockout Rat [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Pneumonia elicits the production of cytotoxic beta amyloid (Aβ) that contributes to endorgan dysfunction, yet the mechanism linking infection to production of cytotoxic Aβ is unknown.

Effective string theory constraints on the long distance behavior of the subleading potentials [PDF]

open access: yesPhys.Rev.D79:114002,2009, 2008
The dynamics of heavy quarkonium systems in the strong coupling regime reduces to a quantum mechanical problem with a number of potentials which may be organized in powers of 1/m, m being the heavy quark mass. The potentials must be calculated non-perturbatively, for instance in lattice QCD.
