Molecular characterization and population structure analysis of luffa (Luffa aegyptiaca Mill.) germplasm using inter‑Primer Binding Site (iPBS) retrotransposon markers

open access: yesGenetic Resources and Crop Evolution
Abstract Sponge gourd (Luffa aegyptiaca), an economically significant member of the Cucurbitaceae family, is widely cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions for its applications as a vegetable, medicinal plant, and fiber crop. This study aimed to genetically characterize 32 Luffa aegyptiaca genotypes using Inter-Primer Binding Site ...

Chemical composition of Luffa aegyptiaca Mill., Agave durangensis Gentry and Pennisetum sp. [PDF]

open access: yesPeerJ, 2021
The particleboard industry faces problems of wood shortage, which has led to the use of non-wood lignocellulosic materials. Furthermore, there is also interest in looking for materials that improve their physical and mechanical properties. The species Luffa aegyptiaca Mill. (fruit), Agave durangensis Gentry (bagasse) and Pennisetum sp.

Adult host‐plant preference and larval performance in an oligophagous insect (Chnootriba elaterii)

open access: yesPhysiological Entomology, Volume 48, Issue 4, Page 171-183, December 2023., 2023
For females of the melon ladybug, olfactory cues alone do not provide sufficient information to identify the potential host plants (Y‐tube olfactometer). The adult females choose between several cucurbits, often preferring watermelon and refusing loofah and calabash (dual‐choice chambers).

Bee functional traits and their relationship to pollination services depend on many factors: A meta‐regression analysis

open access: yesInsect Conservation and Diversity, Volume 16, Issue 3, Page 313-323, May 2023., 2023
We conducted a meta‐regression analysis to evaluate the relationship between 10 of the most commonly measured bee functional traits and pollination. Notably, we only found 17 studies that met our selection criteria, yielding 45 effect sizes for six of the traits (body size, tongue length, diet breadth, nesting, parasitism, and sociality).
