Agnuside Stabilizes the Complex I Assembly Factor NDUFAF6 to Reinforce Mitochondrial Efficiency and Thermogenic Responsiveness

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Brown and beige adipocytes dissipate energy as heat, yet effective strategies to enhance their mitochondrial efficiency remain limited. Here, we identify Agnuside (AGN) as a selective stabilizer of the complex I assembly factor NDUFAF6. AGN directly binds cytosolic NDUFAF6, suppresses its ubiquitination, prolongs its half‐life, and facilitates

LuxS affects flagellar phase variation independently of quorum sensing in Salmonella enterica serovar typhimurium [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
LuxS catalyzes the synthesis of the quorum-sensing signaling molecule autoinducer 2. We show that in Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium, deletion of the luxS gene polarizes flagellar phase variation toward the more immunogenic phase 1 flagellin ...

Baicalin Weakens the Virulence of Porcine Extraintestinal Pathogenic Escherichia coli by Inhibiting the LuxS/AI-2 Quorum-Sensing System

open access: yesBiomolecules
Porcine extraintestinal pathogenic Escherichia coli (ExPEC) is a pathogenic bacterium that causes huge economic losses to the pig farming industry and considerably threatens human health.

Role of the luxS gene in bacteriocin biosynthesis by Lactobacillus plantarum KLDS1.0391: A proteomic analysis

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Certain probiotic species of lactic acid bacteria, especially Lactobacillus plantarum, regulate bacteriocin synthesis through quorum sensing (QS) systems.

Canagliflozin Alleviates Diabetic Glomerular Endothelial Injury via Melibiose in a Microbiota‐Dependent Manner

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Canagliflozin treatment reshapes the gut microbiota in DKD and elevates levels of melibiose, a metabolite derived from Roseburia intestinalis. Melibiose directly binds to and enhances the enzymatic activity of glyoxalase 1, leading to decreased methylglyoxal accumulation.

Impact of luxS and suppressor mutations on the gastrointestinal transit of Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
It is generally believed that probiotic bacteria need to survive gastrointestinal transit to exert a health-promoting effect. In this study, a genuine luxS mutant and a luxS mutant containing unknown suppressor mutations of the probiotic strain ...

AI-2-dependent gene regulation in Staphylococcus epidermidis

open access: yesBMC Microbiology, 2008
Background Autoinducer 2 (AI-2), a widespread by-product of the LuxS-catalyzed S-ribosylhomocysteine cleavage reaction in the activated methyl cycle, has been suggested to serve as an intra- and interspecies signaling molecule, but in many bacteria AI-2 ...

Langage du luxe, luxe du langage [PDF]

open access: yesTraduire, 2016

A Brain‐Wide Atlas of Astrocytic Oxytocin Receptors Reveals a Glial Basis for Nucleus Accumbens Modulation of Affiliative Behavior

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The cellular actors of oxytocin signaling are under intense scrutiny. A brain‐wide anatomical and functional analysis in mice and rats reveals widespread expression of oxytocin receptors in astrocytes. These receptors are functionally active and, in the nucleus accumbens, selectively regulate male social affiliation.

The key quorum sensing gene luxS in Lactobacillus acidophilus CICC 6074 and Lactobacillus helveticus R0052 mediates organic acid production and promotes protein hydrolysis in yogurt

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science
: In this study, the effect of luxS, a key gene involved in quorum sensing, on the characteristic flavor of yogurt and its molecular mechanisms during the cofermentation of yogurt with engineered probiotics was investigated.
