Lipid rafts in lymphocyte activation

Microbes and Infection, 2004
The existence of sphingolipid- and cholesterol-rich membrane microdomains called "lipid rafts", as well as their role in lymphocyte biology, has been widely debated during the last few years. Plasma membrane microdomains seem to be primarily involved in initiation and propagation of the signal transduction cascade associated with lymphocyte activation.

Off‐Signals in Lymphocyte Activation

Scandinavian Journal of Immunology, 1976
High‐dose unresponsiveness to concanavalin A affected T and B lymphocytes equally, although only T cells were activated by Con A. Thus, activation and inactivation signals art totally unrelated, the latter also lacking target cell specificity. The off‐signal caused cell death and is probably biologically unimportant.

Biochemistry of B Lymphocyte Activation

1993
The activation of B lymphocytes from resting cells proceeds from the events of early activation to clonal proliferation to final differentiation into either an antibody-secreting plasma cell or a memory B cell. This is a complex activation process marked by several alternative pathways, depending on the nature of the initial antigenic stimulus.

Targeting and Activation of Cytotoxic Lymphocytes

2015

Lymphocytes with congenitally active WASP

Blood, 2010
In this issue of Blood, Burns and colleagues report that the lymphocytes of a Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome patient with an activating WASP mutation display abnormal L-selectin-dependent adhesion and flow behavior in conjunction with altered cell topography and actin polymerization.
