Osteoradionecrosis After Modern Radiotherapy for Oral Cavity Cancer: Incidence and Risk Factors

open access: yesLaryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology, Volume 11, Issue 3, June 2026.
This retrospective single‐institution review evaluated contemporary ORN rates in 172 patients with oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma treated exclusively with IMRT (2013–2022). Reported osteoradionecrosis (ORN) incidence after head and neck cancer IMRT is relatively low, however, the 3 year ORN incidence was 24% in this cohort and increased incidence ...

Smoking Status and Recurrence in Oral Tongue Squamous Cell Carcinoma: Evidence for Convergent Clinical Behavior

open access: yesLaryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology, Volume 11, Issue 3, June 2026.
We evaluated the association between smoking history and disease‐free survival in two independent oral tongue squamous cell carcinoma (SCCOT) cohorts totaling 496 patients treated at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Smoking status and cumulative smoking exposure were not independently associated with recurrence risk in either cohort across Kaplan–Meier and ...

Gastric Cancer: Pathobiology and Therapeutics

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 6, June 2026.
Gastric cancer is a multistep process driven by the interplay of microbial virulence, host epithelial injury, and evolving molecular reprogramming. Initiation involves pathogen‐induced epigenetic alterations and the early subversion of key oncogenic signaling networks, facilitating the transition from chronic injury to metaplasia and malignant ...

The Tumor Immune Microenvironment in Endometrial Cancer: Composition, Molecular Subtypes, and Therapeutic Implications

open access: yesMedComm – Oncology, Volume 5, Issue 2, June 2026.
Endometrial cancer (EC), a major gynecologic malignancy and a representative “cold tumor”, exhibits a tumor immune microenvironment (TIME) influenced by a broad range of cellular and molecular elements, immunosuppressive signals, and pathways of immune evasion.

Neoadjuvant versus adjuvant chemoradiotherapy for resectable cT3‐4a esophageal squamous cell carcinoma: A matched cohort analysis

open access: yesPrecision Radiation Oncology, Volume 10, Issue 2, Page 155-164, June 2026.
Neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (NCRT) significantly improves overall survival over adjuvant chemoradiotherapy for resectable cT3‐4a esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, with comparable progression‐free survival and toxicity. This propensity‐matched study supports NCRT as the preferred strategy for this high‐risk population.
