Coacervation driven by liquid‐liquid phase separation (LLPS) of biopolymers has garnered increasing attention in biology since this leads to the formation of membraneless organelles capable of performing essential yet largely unknown functions. This review highlights recent advances in coacervates (artificial condensates) composed of low‐molecular ...

High affinity binding of H3K14ac through collaboration of bromodomains 2, 4 and 5 is critical for the molecular and tumor suppressor functions of PBRM1. [PDF]
Polybromo-1 (PBRM1) is an important tumor suppressor in kidney cancer. It contains six tandem bromodomains (BDs), which are specialized structures that recognize acetyl-lysine residues.

Regulating Protein Immobilization During Cell‐Free Protein Synthesis in Hyaluronan Microgels
Bifunctional microgels carrying a linear DNA template and Ni2+‐activated NTA moieties are used as platform for cell‐free protein synthesis and in situ protein immobilization. By varying the concentration of NTA moieties in the microgels, the amount of GFP‐His immobilized inside the microgel and released to the microgel environment can be regulated ...

Toward Design Principles for Biomolecular Condensates for Metabolic Pathways
Biomolecular condensates are membrane‐less compartments found through‐out nature which can serve as reaction crucibles for biochemical processes. This review explores the design strategies underlying how condensates can be used in biotechnology to enhance multistep enzyme cascades including enhancement by mass action and substrate channeling, and ...

Enhanced self-attraction of proteins and its evolutionary implications [PDF]
Statistical analysis of protein-protein interactions shows anomalously high frequency of homodimers [Ispolatov, I., et al. (2005) Nucleic Acids Res 33, 3629-35]. Furthermore, recent findings [Wright, C.F., et al. (2005) Nature 438, 878-81] demonstrate that maintaining low sequence identity is a key evolutionary mechanism that inhibits protein ...

Maillard Type Reaction for Electroless Copper Plating onto Ceramic Nanoparticles
This work presents the manufacturing of copper‐plated ceramic nanoparticles in an environmentally friendly way. Supported by organic functionalizations with pectin an electroless plating step can be performed. Sustainable reagents like xylose, and several amino acids are used for the reduction process.

Early lysine deficiency in young broiler chicks
The carry-over effect of a pre-starter diet (0 to 3 days of age) deficient in lysine on subsequent growth and body composition (3 to 10 days) was examined in two experiments on male broiler chicks raised in cages.
